In this role, you will perform a variety of office and fieldwork duties. You will interpret contract documents for major and minor construction projects, compile data and apply engineering computations to design simple projects, assist with performing surveys and more. If you have your bachelor's degree in civil or transportation-related engineering and/or a passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, this might be the position for you! A day in the life: Read, understand and interpret contract documents for major and/or minor construction projects.Identify potential problems, propose potential solutions and work with others in their resolution.Ensure contract work is performed in accordance with the documents by monitoring safety procedures and methods, traffic control, the Pollution Control Plan, etc.Understand theories, principles, practices and methodologies of civil or transportation-related engineering.Compile data and statistics and apply engineering computations to design simple projects.Prepare written reports, utilize computer programs to analyze data and use advanced mathematics to solve engineering problems.Assist in performing detailed surveys and calculations using manual and electronic survey equipment, computers and complex software.Work is performed outdoors, with exposure to hazards of traffic and all weather conditions.Working long/flexible hours and weekends and travel from various project sites, meetings and occasional overnight stays are required.
