Join our community and experience Emerson College!The Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts & Interdisciplinary Studies at Emerson College is looking to fill three sections of Introduction to Psychology (PS 101) and one section of Abnormal Psychology (PS 201) for the Fall semester, September 4, 2024-December 17, 2024. Introduction to Psychology (PS 101) is a comprehensive introduction to psychology: the science of behavior and the mind. The goal of this course is to introduce students to the range of sub-disciplines, core ideas, and theoretical foundations that make up the field of psychology. Students study a variety of topics in which psychological processes are at work, including the human nervous system, sensation and perception, attention and consciousness, learning and memory, language and thinking, motivation and emotion, social perception and interaction, child and adult development, and mental illness and psychotherapy. Abnormal Psychology (PS 201) provides an introduction to the nature, etiology, and classification of abnormal behaviors and therapeutic methods used to treat them. An explanation of the relation between mental disorder and the social and cultural setting is also provided. This course requires PS101 or a related prerequisite.Both courses fulfill the Social-Psychological Perspective. For the Fall 2024 term, the available sections of PS101 are scheduled to meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11:45am, 12-1:45pm, and 2-3:45pm. PS201 is scheduled to meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3:45pm.Enrollment for is capped at 35 students for PS101 and 30 students for PS201 and will take place in-person on the Boston campus .The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
