Position Summary: Responsible for using equipment to manufacture gelatin and product to be encapsulated ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing processes. Responsibilities: Receives bulk materials, weighs and subdivides materials in strict accordance with manufacturing procedures; loads into automatic equipment and makes necessary adjustments to ensure proper mix of ingredients, and monitors the production flow including gelatin receiver temperatures to ensure finished product meets Pharmavite's production standards.Ensures equipment and working area meets all required sanitary standards; uses small hand tools to disassemble pumps, receivers, mixers and other equipment, cleans according to set procedures, and reassembles prior to mixing a new batch of product.Maintains required logs and other batch records accurately and completely; uses computer to enter data, and make routine inquiries as necessary.Operates drum lifter to lift drums in production process, fork lift and/or pallet jack to transport raw materials or finished product, and scales to weigh bulk materials when necessary.Prepares outside vendors orders; gathers materials in accordance with schedules; transfers products to new containers as necessary; and packages for shipping.Performs all duties in compliance with safety rules, standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices.Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. Certification: Forklift certification is required within three months of attaining this job. Experience: Requires 6 months of manufacturing experience. Prior experience as a compounder or blending operator is preferred. A complete working knowledge of the manufacturing procedures for producing gelatin products is preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Requires:Fluent English communication skills to read/understand policies and procedures, following instructions precisely to ensure product is manufactured to specific standards, maintain written logs and records, perform data entry, understand verbal instructions, and discuss problems with supervisors and other staff.Have manual dexterity to manipulate controls and disassemble/assemble equipment.Accurate basic math skills. Physical Requirements: Stand/walk for most of the shift, with little flexibility to move from their stations unless relieved by others. Employees sit to maintain records and use computer. Perform repetitive duties for long periods. Intermittently move drums weighing up to 600 pounds (uses drum lifter, but some pulling/pushing required) and lift large containers weighing up to 50 pounds. Kneel periodically when manufacturing gelatin. Periodically operate a fork lift. Environment: Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., sufficient to cause minor discomfort, oily/wet conditions. The requirement that employees wear protective eye wear, hair nets, uniforms, safety shoes, back support belts and gloves. Safety: The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices, without endangering the health or safety of self or others. Various elements are used to determine a candidate's starting salary such as job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in the role.
