HM Treasury is recruiting for an Analyst to join our Companies and Sectors Analysis Team. We are a friendly and inclusive team that leads Treasury analysis on the health of the UK corporate sector. We work closely with partners such as the Bank of England, the Office for National Statistics and Department for Business and Trade with our analysis playing a key role in shaping government policy on business. Our work sits in a sweet spot between micro and macroeconomics, meaning there is a real opportunity to work across these areas. Recent projects include leading analysis on the Chancellor’s strategy for Autumn, producing a Corporate Sector Health and Resilience dashboard in Python and examining the role of corporate profits on the wider economy. About the Job The team works with many different parts of the Treasury and your priorities will reflect emerging policy issues. This means you can test and develop your analytical skills while directly influencing decision-making. Key accountabilities include: Supporting the development of high-quality analysis to inform policy thinking. Communicating analytical findings in an accessible and clear manner, both written and verbally for a range of audiences including policy colleagues, senior officials and ministers. Building working relationships with partners across the Treasury, Government, and external bodies. Innovating the team’s analysis through bringing new insights, datasets and techniques to our work About You People with strong analytical skills who are confident working with data and applying their knowledge to a wide range of economic questions would make an excellent fit in the team. The post holder will need to get up to speed on issues quickly, draw insights from a variety of sources, and communicate their findings clearly.
