Learn more about 9th Way Insignia at https://9thwayinsignia.com/ Team (Project) Introduction 9th Way Insignia Technology is looking for a 508 Compliance Analyst to join our team to assist in providing Information Technology Program Management and technical support (i.e., development, operations and maintenance) to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Benefits and Memorial Services (BAM) Portfolio. BAM provides high quality, effective, and efficient Information Technology (IT) services to those responsible for providing care to the Veterans at the point-of-care as well as throughout all points of the Veterans' health care in an effective, timely and compassionate manner. VA depends on Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) systems to meet mission goals, and deliver world-class, innovative systems that ensure reliable, secure, and seamless delivery of benefits and services directly to Veterans and their families. The BAM serves the Veterans Benefits Administration, the Board of Veterans Appeals, and the National Cemetery Administration to develop and manage advanced technology solutions. Functional Job (LCAT) Information: A 508 Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring that digital content and technology solutions meet accessibility standards outlined in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. It involves evaluating digital assets, conducting accessibility assessments, and providing guidance to ensure compliance with accessibility regulations and best practices. Professional Level Information: A 508 Compliance Analyst aligns as a Level 2 Consultant within Insignia Technology. A Level 2 Consultant completes tasks and projects of moderate scope and complexity. A Consultant exercises best judgement and problem-solving skills within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action to execute assignments. As a consultant, you may provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and support other employees and customers. Responsibilities: Conduct accessibility assessments and audits of digital content, websites, software applications, and documents to ensure compliance with Section 508 standards and WCAG guidelines. Collaborate with development teams, content creators, and designers to identify accessibility barriers and recommend solutions for remediation. Review and test software applications, multimedia content, and online documents using assistive technologies (screen readers, magnification software, etc.) to assess accessibility. Develop and maintain accessibility testing plans, methodologies, and tools to streamline assessment processes. Provide training and guidance to content authors, developers, and project teams on accessibility principles, techniques, and best practices. Create accessibility reports and documentation detailing findings, remediation steps, and compliance status for digital assets. Stay current with accessibility standards, regulations, and industry trends to inform best practices and ensure ongoing compliance. Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate accessibility considerations into design, development, and testing phases of projects. Participate in accessibility-related meetings, working groups, and initiatives to promote accessibility awareness and advocacy within the organization. Conduct usability testing and gather feedback from users with disabilities to improve accessibility and user experience. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Strong knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines, including Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, and ADA standards. Experience conducting accessibility assessments, audits, and usability testing for digital products and content. Familiarity with assistive technologies such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA), magnification software (ZoomText), and alternative input devices. Proficiency in using accessibility testing tools such as axe, WAVE, Accessibility Insights, and screen reader testing plugins. Ability to interpret accessibility requirements and provide actionable recommendations for remediation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain accessibility concepts and issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in reporting. Experience with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and content management systems (WordPress, Drupal) is a plus. Preferred/Desired: Relevant certifications such as IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) are desirable. Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $47,795 - $69,456 9th Way Insignia's range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
