Job Summary St. Patrick Center, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is hiring an Engagement Specialist to work at our off:site shelter, Safe Haven. The specialist will observe and evaluate the daily traffic of the shelter location, will notify the appropriate St. Patrick Center staff of disturbances at Safe Haven, and will work to ensure the safety of all individuals and fellow staff members. This is a PRN position and will be scheduled as needed, is required to work a minimum of one shift every 3 months and no more than 19 hours per week. The position requires individuals to work various shifts that include weekends and overnight hours. The PRN position is not eligible for benefits. The hourly wage is between 15 and 20 per hour. Job Responsibilities:Direct individuals to appropriate entrances such as volunteers, visitors and persons seeking services.:Ability to work varying shifts.:Complete security rounds both inside and outside of the safe haven to monitor the safety and cleanliness of the area.:Engage clients in conversation to determine needs; provide appropriate resources.:Inform persons in need of food, shelter, medical, and hygiene assistance of the location of resources.:Engage clients in conversations regarding substance use and mental health. Work closely with area service agencies to ensure service delivery.:Refer clients to appropriate community agencies and shelter providers as needed.:Use appropriate de:escalation techniques to defuse volatile persons.:Use appropriate judgement to call "911" for emergency assistance.:Providing a welcome presence to persons seeking services:Record and maintain services provided and notes for on:going clients in CaseWorthy and Service Point:Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports:Maintain clean and professional appearance.:Complete agency Incident Reports as needed.:Other duties as assigned Job Requirements:High school diploma or GED required.:Ability to interface with diverse population.:Strong communication skills:Ability to work flexible hoursSt. Patrick Centerdoes not discriminate on the basis of handicapped status in the admission or access to, or treatment or employment in, its federally assisted programs and activities.
