POSITION DETAILS Position Type : Full-Time Reporting Location : Remote Schedule : 8am-5pm PST, Mon-Fri Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000/year Reports to : COO Start Date : June 24, 2024 (earliest start date) Application Deadline : None OVERVIEW Verdani is seeking a seasoned professional to step into a pivotal role primed for growth supporting oversight of our Certifications Department, managing top green building certification projects including LEED, Fitwel, BREEAM, and others, driving business development, nurture client relationships, and guiding departmental management and innovation. In collaboration with the Interim Department Head in applicable areas, this role encompasses the following key areas: Green Building Certifications: Oversee green building certification projects for clients, managing the entire certification process for programs like LEED, Fitwel, WELL, IREM CSP, BREEAM, and others. Responsibilities include organizing and leading kick-off calls, delegating tasks, collaborating with vendors, and meeting deadlines. Additionally, develop and market new certification services. Business Development: Lead all business development activities for certifications, including responding to RFPs and securing new business. Responsibilities include identifying and pursuing new clients, preparing proposals and contracts, maintaining client relationships and CRM, and managing and forecasting department resources. The ideal candidate will have a background in sustainable real estate, extensive knowledge of major green building certification systems, strong business and project management skills, and exceptional networking abilities. Department Management Support: Provide comprehensive support to the department, focusing on industry updates, innovation, continuous improvement, leadership and team development, and financial management. Enhance internal communication and maintain strong client communication. Responsibilities include market analysis and improving business development materials such as the Certifications Guide, presentations, pricing models, and other resources. Special Projects and Partnerships: Support the company with special projects, including speaking engagements, thought leadership, conference representation, and developing training materials. These activities aim to benefit the Certifications Department and the broader organization, fostering professional growth and enhancing the company's industry presence. RESPONSIBILITIES Primary: Manage all types of existing building certifications such as LEED v4.1 EBOM, Fitwel Certifications, IREM CSP, and others, ensuring compliance and quality control (QA/QC). Coordinate and manage project tasks and deadlines, effectively delegating and communicating work to team members. Communicate technical program requirements through written, verbal, and in-person meetings with project teams, clients and other primary stakeholders. Prepare technical documentation for green building certification projects. Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high client satisfaction through proactive communication and prompt issue resolution. Identify and pursue new clients and track new certification requests from existing ESG clients. Prepare comprehensive proposals and contracts, as well as respond to requests for proposals (RFPs). Conduct market analysis to identify trends and opportunities, utilizing business intelligence for strategic decisions. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with industry organizations, certification bodies, and other stakeholders, representing the company at industry events. Maintain CRM and manage department resources related to business development activities. Collaborate on department near- and long-term strategic planning. Develop and market new certification services. Provide leadership and direction to the certifications team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture and supervise and mentor team members for career growth. Manage the department staffing and tracking financial performance and identifying cost-saving measures. Identify and mitigate risks associated with green building certification projects, including technical, legal, and financial risks. Monitor key risk indicators to minimize exposure. Stay abreast of relevant building certification industry news and communicate updates to the team and organization. Drive innovation in certification services and processes, implementing best practices to improve efficiency and identifying areas for process improvement. Communicate effectively with senior leadership, providing updates on departmental performance, KPIs, and strategic initiatives. Oversee the preparation of reports on project status and department performance. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to foster professional growth and development. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to leverage expertise and resources for certification projects. Contribute to special department and company projects. Secondary: Provide guidance to other Directors, Sr. Managers, Managers, Coordinators, as needed. Create and update supervisor training programs. Represent Verdani and the Certifications Department at industry events and conferences. Participate in relevant internal or external committees, advisory boards, or chapters to effectively represent Verdani and the Certifications Department. Enhance communication efforts, technical writing, policies, and education materials for both Verdani employees and clients. Conduct research and tasks to support the growth of the Certifications Department. Participate in conferences and relevant training courses. Project site visits as needed, up to 10% of the time. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS We recognize that the job requirements may vary, and that not every candidate may possess all the required or preferred experience. Required: 5-10+ years professional experience with green building certifications management for existing buildings. Demonstrated professional experience with certifications business development. Experience in consulting environment, running multiple projects and clients at a time Experience in LEED project management. Experience in WELL and BREEAM Willing to travel for site visits, as needed. Preferred: Experience in Fitwel, IREM CSP, Green Globes project management Willing to attend relevant networking events and conference to represent the organization. New Construction project management experience. PLATFORMS & SOFTWARE Required: Microsoft Office Suite, especially proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. LEED Online Portal Preferred: Monday.com or similar project management program such as Smartsheet, Click Up, or Airtable. Arc Skoru ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager Measurabl GreenBadger EC3 tool or other Life Cycle Assessment tools. Construction management software tools such as: Procore, Newforma, PlanGrid, or others. Communicate either orally or written in another language, in addition to English. Conducting site visits, which may involve traveling to different locations and navigating the site for distances that vary based on the project. Traveling to different time zones as required for site visits and project meetings.
