The ideal candidate will have experience in criminal defense and immigration law and be able to advocate for clients seeking relief after conviction.Job Overview:The Post-Conviction Relief Attorney will handle various post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, early termination of probation, and more. They will represent clients in court proceedings, provide legal counsel, and collaborate with other attorneys within the firm. Fluency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.Duties:Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents about their casesHandle post-conviction relief cases, including motions, expungements, and reduction requestsAttend motion hearings and provide clients with strategic advice following each hearingManage open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, and sentencingConduct legal research, draft motions, and interview clients as neededAnalyze potential case outcomes based on legal precedentsManage caseload effectively and prioritize tasks accordinglyRequirements:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to the California State BarExperience in criminal defense and/or immigration lawFamiliarity with criminal procedures at the state and local levelsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a teamFluency in English and Spanish is strongly preferredExcellent communication and advocacy skillsCertifications:Admission to the California State BarSkills:Legal research and writingCase management and organizationCourtroom advocacy and representationBilingual proficiency in English and SpanishStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesBenefits Offered:The firm provides medical, dental, and vision insurance, a competitive compensation package, paid parking, paid time off, and other benefits.
