Director of ConnectionsPosition: Director of ConnectionsStatus: Full-Time/ExemptReports to: Executive DirectorEvaluated by: Executive Director and Sessions HR CommitteePosition Overview: To direct the CONNECT part of Connect, Grow, and Go by championing the Kingdom Life value of Koinonia leading, encouraging, and facilitating authentic Christian community. The Director of Connections is responsible for creating a welcoming and exciting front door experience for everyone who attends worship services (but especially our guests). The Director of Connections will also help identify and address the side door issues that might cause guests or members to drift away from the congregation. The ideal candidate: people-oriented, extroverted, models the value of Koinonia in their personal life. Gift of knowing and remembering people. High emotional intelligence; ability to recruit, coordinate, and motivate large numbers of volunteers. 1. Lead by Example modeling the value of Kingdom Life discipleship-in-community Model a personal and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ Support the mission, values and vision, and policies of VPC Reflect the values of VPCs staff covenant Personally interact with members and guests before and after worship gatherings CONNECT: Be personally committed to regular involvement in a small group with other VPC members GROW: Engage in worship and other discipleship opportunities. GO: Engage in missional opportunities, as led by the Holy Spirit2. Lead the process of connecting people of every generation in authentic Christian fellowship Develop and oversee process for welcoming and tracking guests (both in-person and online) Personally contact first-time guests within the first week of attending a worship gathering Continue tracking repeat guests and non-member participants, compiling a list of potential invitees to Beginning the Journey Coordinate Beginning the Journey and oversee the volunteer teams (Pastors will develop teaching content, serve as teachers). Even as BTJ Team makes follow up contacts with new members, the Director of Connections will personally contact each new member within one month, three months, and six months of membership with the purpose of reviewing the Personal Roadmap and helping them find meaningful connection Meet quarterly with Pastors and Executive Director to evaluate and share ideas in the ministry area of Connections. Maintain record of how every VPC member is connected (small group or ministry); Oversee and create small group opportunities for people to connect and grow Serve as staff liaison for childrens church and other intergenerational ministries that may develop Creatively and continually evaluate how best to create connection opportunities for those attending and those interested in VPC so their spiritual journey is enhanced by Christian community3. Create periodic entry point opportunities for people to meet and get to know others at a deeper level. The goal is not to fill the church calendar with events and programs but to establish strategic and effective ways of connecting people of every generation to one another (especially those who may not already be connected with other VPC members). Such opportunities could include: Getting to know you/getting to know the pastors/staff Fellowship meals either at the church campus or in homes Intergenerational celebrations4. Oversee and steward a welcoming environment on the church campus Consistently evaluate the experience of first-time guests (particularly noting the experience from the parking lot into the sanctuary) Lead, train, supervise, encourage, and coordinate all Welcoming Team volunteers (parking lot team, greeters, ushers, safety team, Glass House volunteers). Oversee and coordinate Sunday morning experience for all guests5. General Leadership Serve as an integral member of the staff, attending staff meetings and other meetings as needed.
