POSITION TITLE: EMTFLSA STATUS: Non-ExemptREPORTS TO: Operations Manager and the Medical Control PhysicianREVISION DATE: 02.10.2022DEPARTMENT: GroundAEMT base salary listed is on 24/48, 48/96 and 12 hour 2-2-3, and set 13-hour shifts are all possible, these changes will affect both the hourly and the yearly base pay. 48/96 is sent to more rural stations, versus shorter shifts are typically used as power trucks to take load off of the 24/48 trucks. GENERAL SUMMARY The AEMT assures provision of care to an assigned patient population or work site in a professional manner, utilizing the standard of care and the principles of continuous Quality Improvement in collaboration with other team members. EMT are responsible for the safety of patients prior to and during transport via fixed wing aircraft or ground-based EMS unit from and to medical care facilities. This includes provision of life support measures required to stabilize critically ill or injured patients. AEMT must have the ability to establish positive interpersonal and professional relationships.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES• Operates an emergency vehicle.• Assesses the safety and hazards at the scene of an emergency.• Controls the hazards at an emergency scene.• Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury present and establishes the priorities for emergency care.• Under the direct or indirect supervision of a physician, treats injuries or illness using advanced life support techniques and medications; these may include: airway management, defibrillation, administration of any type of parenterally, orally, or topically approved medication or solution, oral/tracheal suctioning, and all Basic Life Support techniques.• Extricates patients from entrapment.• Provides special rescue services where trained in those specific areas.• Performs triaging of patients and management of mass casualty situations.• Lifts and moves patients.• Utilizes specialized communication equipment to consult with physicians and/or notify hospitals of patient's condition.• Completes detailed documentation on patient care and transport.• Understands and uses appropriate state and federal regulations pertaining to EMS, confined space, hazardous materials, incident command system, bloodborne pathogens, airborne pathogens, and controlled substances.• Reports verbally to receiving Physician as to the patient's condition and interventions performed.• Maintains the condition of the emergency response vehicle, aircraft, or vessel.• Maintains, cleans, restocks emergency supplies and equipment.• Attends continuing medical education (CME) on an ongoing basis.KEY WORK RELATIONSHIPS• Demonstrate Professionalism and Excellence in all things done when representing company• Treat all people with courtesy and respect Practice Teamwork KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES• Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, as well as onboard personal, and clinics. • Ability to remain calm during stressful situations.• Ability to respond to phone calls, and emails quickly.• Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make decisions with a Medic partner.• Ability to repeatedly twist, squat, stoop, bend, grasp, use fine hand coordination, push, and pull.• To use appropriate safety equipment when exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals is possible.• Ability to mix own medications, with correct knowledge of proper concentrations.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS• NREMT license• Alabama State Advanced EMSP license• CPR• EVOCACLSPHYSICAL DEMANDS• Ability to lift a minimum of 150 lbs. independently and more with assistance.• Ability to repeatedly twist, squat, stoop, bend, grasp, use fine hand coordination, push, and pull.• Ability to work in a confined and mobile environment.LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERAvailability: On duty and available for assignment 24 hours per day during duty day• Shift Changes: Must arrive to assigned station on-time, dressed and ready for call response• Crew Accommodations: Accommodations will be provided at employer’s expense while on duty• Stop Work Authority: Medevac Alabama inc has a firm stop work authority in place: it is the employees right and responsibility to exercise this program.No part of this statement should be considered a binding contract for continued employment at Medevac Alabama LLC.
