Immunophotonics, Inc. – a small but well-established international biopharma startup based in the Cortex Innovation District of St. Louis and focused on a novel immunotherapy treatment for cancer patients with solid, metastatic tumors – seeks a qualified Director of Finance to develop and execute the company’s financial planning and accounting operations. Candidate may be able to work remotely in part on a hybrid basis but should be able to come into the office multiple days per week. The company is open to negotiating alternative work-schedule arrangements (e.g. working fewer than five days a week) if desired and appropriate based on workload.This individual will be working closely with upper management and outside CPAs to ensure that books are kept up-to-date and accurate for quick decision making and reporting and will provide strategic support in all aspects of our finances. Managerial accounting and financial management experience in a rapidly growing start-up environment is a plus. This role will be ever changing and will require the candidate to be flexible and open-minded, paying close attention to detail and processes.Your duties would include establishing targets, developing and tracking budgets, and performing financial analysis. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with the ability to integrate seamlessly into a small, tightknit team. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks. Developing, managing, and enforcing GAAP-compliant procedures performing and managing the monthly and quarterly close processes. Managing accounts payable invoice processing. Creating and maintaining budgeting tools including budget-to actual/variance reporting, financial planning and analysis, cash flow analysis, and cost savings. Managing payroll budgeting and auditing payroll for accuracy. Perform regular financial analysis. Develop and track budgets that meet the requirements of company departments. Supervise all audit and internal control processes. Prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance. Guarantee compliance with financial laws and guidelines. Recognize patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas. Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the company. Overseeing and managing the company’s finance IT system and choosing appropriate software programs and processes based on unique needs. Providing strategic guidance around capital financing options to support the company’s growth. Managing outside vendors. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience as director of finance or similar role.; experience with VC-backed startup financing is a plus. In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices. Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting. Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g., SAP). An analytical, strategic mind. Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus. CPA or other relevant qualification is a plus. Mastery knowledge of Microsoft Office, accounting software including QuickBooks and Bill.com, and budgeting software. Comfort in the startup environment (i.e., sometimes chaotic and lacking structure) and able to create structure and foundational accounting processes. Strong priority management skills.
