Junior Accountant

Description:
Responsible for assisting the controller with initiating and monitoring company accounting activities such as bank reconciliations, cash application, financial reporting, general ledgers, A/R and A/P.. Provide support to the accounting department by participating in the monthly accounting closing process and conduct other reporting responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include but are not limited to the following: Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and supporting schedulesRecord monthly journal entries and prepare bank reconciliationsFacilitate and complete monthly close proceduresAnalyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basisPrepare monthly account reconciliations Assist with month-end closing process, maintain schedules in support of year-end close, and assist with audit requests Perform monthly accruals, adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary Responsible for bank and balance sheet reconciliations Communication and interface with other departments to ensure accuracy and operational efficiency Assist with collection and submittal of State, City and Environmental reporting information Perform other accounting duties and serving as backup for AP/AR dept. Requirements Associates Degree in Accounting2+ years of experience in AccountingProficient in Word, Excel and PowerPointStrong organizational and analytical skillsEffective time management skills, self- motivated, critical attention to detail PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
