We are searching for a motivated & experienced Lead Mechanic Performs repairs and maintenance for food processing or production machinery, conveyor systems and related equipment, as well interior and exterior repairs. Coordinates the activities of maintenance mechanics on the shift to ensure work assigned is completed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as a normal practice. Ensures the assigned shift is SQF compliant at all times.Ensures the assigned shift are utilizing the proper PPE while performing tasks, and at all times while in the plant.Reports any violations of Company policy or procedure and recommends disciplinary actions.Reviews all maintenance documentation prior to being turned in after shift.Ensures the maintenance communication log has all issues found on shift.Reports all downtime (during production), of more than 1 hour, to Plant General Manager,maintenance management and production management.Responsible for contacting Maintenance Manager immediately if any extreme complicated breakdowns occur.Monitors time/attendance for shift mechanics.Keeps all assigned employees informed of all issues.Responsible for troubleshooting, by observing mechanical devices in operation and/or listening to their sounds to locate root causes .Dismantles devices to gain access to remove defective parts.Adjusts or tightens nuts, bolts or screws to improve machine performance.Examines form and texture of product to detect imperfections.Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Repairs or replaces defective parts.Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.Lubricates and cleans parts.Starts devices to test their performance.Performs other exterior or interior repairs.Checks freezer temperatures in conformance to quality standards.Performs minor electrical repairs.Inspects and measures silo by means of inserting knotted rope to determine the amount flour or ingredients needed.Assembles or disassembles machines or equipment to clean or lubricate.Ensures safety meetings are conducted.Must be able to ensure that all work that is assigned is completed within the required time frame.Attends company scheduled meetings when applicable (i.e., safety meetings, production meetings, department meetings.).Informs supervision of any problems or complications that may ariseParticipates in special projects and performs other duties as required In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments. Must follow all Company Safety policies, as well as all GMP regulationsYou must also be aware of issues associated with food safety and safe food handling practices that are relevant to your job. Training conducted by a qualified staff member is mandatory. You must know how to recognize, prevent and alleviate food safety hazards.
