The Labor and Employment Law Associate Attorney will provide legal counsel and representation on a wide range of employment law matters, including compliance, governance, arbitration, and litigation. The ideal candidate will have a background in employment law with a focus on organizational compliance and governance, with experience in education law being advantageous. Duties:Provide legal advice on employment law matters such as hiring practices, employee relations, terminations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour issuesHandle employee disciplinary matters, labor grievances, arbitrations, and collective bargaining negotiationsRepresent clients before administrative tribunals including the Public Employment Relations Board, Office of Civil Rights, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and New York State Division of Human RightsManage employment-related litigation from discovery through trial, including drafting motions and conducting legal researchDraft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and proceduresProvide legal advice on education-related matters including special education services and impartial hearingsCollaborate with client's internal stakeholders, including HR, management, and other legal teams, to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulationsStay informed about developments in employment law and advise on potential impacts to the organization Requirements:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolActive membership in good standing with the relevant state bar association5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably within the public or educational sectorState and federal court litigation experienceStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulationsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsProven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment Benefits:401(k)Medical, dental, and life insurancePaid time off (PTO)
