Qualifications/Requirements: Education and Licensure: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program. Valid and current state licensure as a Physical Therapist. Certification by the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). Clinical Experience: Prior experience working as a Physical Therapist, preferably in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting. Experience in geriatric care, addressing functional limitations, mobility challenges, and rehabilitation needs. Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in conducting comprehensive assessments to evaluate patients' functional abilities, strength, balance, gait, and range of motion. Expertise in developing and implementing individualized treatment plans to address patients' goals and promote functional independence. Familiarity with therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities to improve strength, mobility, and pain management. Understanding of fall prevention strategies and interventions to enhance balance and reduce the risk of injuries. Knowledge of adaptive equipment, assistive devices, and orthotics to facilitate safe and independent mobility. Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists, to coordinate and integrate care. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, their families, and interdisciplinary team members. Empathy and patience to work with individuals who may have physical challenges or limitations. A collaborative approach to working with other healthcare professionals and effectively communicating treatment plans and progress. Compliance and Documentation: Adherence to legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines for physical therapy practice. Competence in maintaining accurate and timely documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Continuing Education: Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education activities to stay updated with advancements in the field. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, sit, and move around for extended periods to evaluate and treat patients. Physical strength and dexterity to facilitate therapeutic activities, assist with transfers, and use equipment.
