Position DescriptionThe Coordinator of Freshman Mathematics is the contact person for walk:in visitors, email, and phone calls related to freshman mathematics courses. Typical inquiries include explanations/complaints from students/parents about courses, teacher's performance, course policies, departmental policies, university policies, etc; questions from other entities on campus regarding math courses, policies, prerequisites, etc.; questions about transfer equivalencies. The Coordinator will be expected to teach three courses per semester in fall and spring. Examples of Work Performed:Scheduling teaching assignments for support faculty and graduate instructors for 100:level and most 200:level courses for fall and spring; scheduling teaching assignments for all summer and intersession courses :Entering department course schedules during Event Planning :Adding students to classes who are unable to add themselves (need booking approvals, class capacity needs changing, international exchange students, overrides needed, conditional bookings, etc.) :Monitoring enrollment numbers in math courses, particularly during orientations :Evaluating transfer equivalencies for freshman level math courses :Submitting course materials for freshman level courses :Scheduling (and participating in) observations of graduate instructors' teaching each semester :Keeping gradebook records for support faculty, graduate instructors, visiting professors, and those leaving the University :Sending out reminders about University deadlines/policies :Facilitating conversations between Title IX and The Violence Prevention Center and instructional faculty to ensure that student needs are being met and policies followed as needed Position Details Appointment: 12 Month Assignment Type: Non:Tenure Track Minimum Qualifications Must be a current University of Mississippi employee. Current employees must apply through connectU. Candidates must have a Masters degree in Mathematics or a closely related field AND have demonstrated a record of excellence in teaching Mathematics.
