The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Job Overview:The Public Entity Labor and Employment Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling labor and employment matters, providing legal counsel to public sector clients, and participating in trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings. Duties:Provide legal counsel to public sector clients such as cities, counties, and special districtsPrepare labor and employment cases for trial/arbitration, including participating in trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedingsDemonstrate knowledge and experience of public sector labor and employment law, including collective bargaining, administrative proceedings before Public Employment Relations Board (PERB), and employee benefit/PERS issuesConduct depositions of percipient witnesses and expert witnesses in labor and employment casesHandle law and motion experience involving discovery issues or participate in workplace investigationsDevelop and execute discovery plansDraft motions for summary judgment in labor and employment casesManage preparation and responses to written discovery with limited supervisionConduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on specific timelinesSupport senior attorneys in providing labor and employment advice, preparing legal memorandums, and opinionsInterface with clients professionally and competently, addressing legal and strategic issues in labor and employment mattersTake ownership of matters and develop litigation plans and/or courses of action Requirements:3+ years of experience handling labor and employment matters, exclusively or predominantly, for public and/or private clientsExperience with public sector clients preferredJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmitted to practice law in California Skills:Excellent writing skills, including drafting motions for summary judgmentStrong legal research and analysis skillsAbility to handle and manage discovery processesExperience in providing legal counsel and participating in trials, arbitrations, and administrative proceedingsProfessionalism in client interactions and conveying competence in legal and strategic matters This California firm was founded in 1979 and focuses on employment, labor, construction, education, real estate, general business and business litigation, corporate, taxation, bankruptcy, and immigration.
