Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization into the next phase of its strategic growth, direction, and vital success. STARS - Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services is a truly unique non-profit organization that stands out for its unwavering dedication to serving individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Our mission is not just a statement but a commitment to improving the lives of individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities. We achieve this by providing day training programs and employment opportunities in our work centers and the community. We have a significant opportunity for an Executive Director, a role that will shape the future of our organization. We seek a visionary nonprofit business leader who can drive our organizational success and empower our high-performing staff. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be based at the organization's offices in Scottsdale, Arizona. They will have overall management responsibility for a growing, impactful organization with a $4 -5 million annual budget and currently, 58 employees and 30 participants across two campuses. Combining inspirational leadership and sophisticated management abilities, the Executive Director will advance the organization regarding culture, capability, processes, and impact. Working closely with the organization's executive team, the Executive Director will inspire innovation and ensure the organization is continually well-equipped to advance its mission. The Executive Director we are seeking will possess a unique blend of business acumen, nonprofit and program management expertise, and a proven track record in fundraising. This individual will be a collaborative and strategic leader who is not just passionate about serving the population of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), particularly within the community, but also excited about the opportunity to significantly advance our mission. RESPONSIBILITIES: Executive Leadership and Organizational Management: Provide thoughtful and visionary executive leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors. Present strategic options and plans for the organization's impact and gain board approval as needed to carry out the organization's mission. Program management to include: Effectively leading the programs to gain rapport with clients, families, and staff to heighten awareness in the community and organizational success. Financial Stewardship and Fundraising: Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability. Budget management to include: Manage STARS annual budget; develop reports and processes for creating revenue and expenses for each quarter. Strategic Planning and Vision: Collaborate with the Board and staff to develop and implement a strategic plan that aligns with the organization's mission and vision. Continuously evaluate and adjust strategies to address changing needs and opportunities. Community Engagement and Advocacy: Represent the organization externally, building strong relationships with stakeholders, donors, and community partners. Advocate for the organization's mission and impact at local, regional, and national levels. Team Leadership and Development: Foster a positive organizational culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: Must be passionate about working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A Bachelors degree in business, public administration, education, special education, social services, behavioral health, or a related field is required. A Masters degree in a related field is preferred. Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets. Must have at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role with management experience OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills or abilities that have been achieved. Proven experience as an Executive Director in a nonprofit setting is preferred. Previous supervisory experience within a DDD (Division of Developmental Disabilities) program is highly recommended and preferred. Experience with DDD, particularly with DES (Department of Economic Security) vendor payment systems and compliance requirements, etc.
