Clarkston Surgery Center is an established ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in operation since 2009. The staff of this ASC are highly-trained professionals, who are committed to creating and working in positive environment. Clarkston Surgery Center provides the highest level of surgical services. The staff works to continuously improve quality and service by focusing on the processes that are important in meeting the needs of patients and their families and physicians on staff at the facility. JOB SUMMARY : Plans and schedules for physicians' surgical and related appointments. Verify Insurance Benefits and calculate estimated patient financial liability. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the facility's surgery schedule. Obtain patient demographics, insurance and financial information and enter into patient accounting system. Verify insurance benefits and calculate patient out-of-pockket liability (copay, coinsurance, deductible). Contact patient/guarantor to arrange payment. Ensure preauthorization is obtained per payer guidelines. Charge processing, claims submission and follow-up, patient collections. Follow HIPAA and facility policy regarding release of records and confidentiality of patient and company information. Abide by facility policies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As Assigned by Business Office Manager KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL AND /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. One to three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to effectively present information to patients, physicians, and other employees of surgery center. Basic math skills. Computer competency. Familiarity with SIS Complete is helpful. PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS: Working environment is representative of the essential functions of the job. Physical demands require employee to sit and answer the phone for extended periods of time. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform essential functions.
