POSITION LOCATION: Palo Alto, CA POSITION AVAILABLE: Staff Accountant MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting or a related field, plus 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related position. DESCRIPTION: Examine financial records and prepare supporting documentation for financial reporting purposes, including journal entries, accrual, reconciliations, and ad hoc analyses. Advance the external reporting process and work with external auditors to manage deliverables for SEC reporting. Manage full procurement and payables process, including developing and maintaining controls for best practices. Build strong relationships with vendors and cross-functional teams and by managing issues with timely resolution. Research technical accounting issues proactively and draft documentation of new policies and procedures. Administer internal policies and perform controls for compliance under the SOX 404(b) environment. Manage regulatory filings to ensure compliance and accuracy with financial records. Analyze financial processes to identify areas for improvement and efficiencies. Note to job duties: This position does not require a CPA license. SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of accounting and ERP systems (including spend management software). Ability to use Excel to compile operational accounting data for use in analyses and financial reporting purposes. Ability to set up functions, statistical formulas, and use queries to collect, examine and analyze large complex financial datasets. Ability to identify variances, detect errors, and automate duplicated efforts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and credibility of financial data. Ability to develop financial dashboards and reporting with visualization software for management to identify financial performance, strategic planning, resource utilization, and actionable business insights. Ability to interpret and review contractual terms, change clauses, and validate mathematical accuracy of contract amounts during procurement and payables processes. Ability to liaise with cross functional teams and various external parties (including vendors and external auditors). Knowledge of accounting principles and practices (including US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX requirements).
