About this Role: UWL, a World Group company, is currently looking for a dedicated and analytical problem-solver to come join our family as an Export Air Freight Supervisor for our growing operations in Chicago! Duties and Responsibilities: * Monitor and improve key export air departmental productivity indicators * Instill and foster a climate of compliance to meet regulations. This includes internal policies and procedures and external government regulations or customer policies/requirements * Look for areas of improved efficiency to improve customer experience as well as controlling costs * Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and customers (shipping lines, trucking companies, and others) * Evaluate vendors at defined intervals per company policy, focusing on areas of possible improvement with corrective action plans where needed * Qualify export air opportunities to determine validity of requests * Reach out to various UWL vendors/partners to establish rates and rating structure for both ongoing clients and transactional opportunities * Coordinate client needs and requests with internal stakeholders (operations, sales, etc.) * Collaborate with internal parties, establishing rates for requested services * Present rates based on customer requests in an accurate and timely fashion and follow up with the customers to determine competitiveness of rates presented * Work directly with management teams to review monthly & quarterly GRI’s, making recommendations on how to best handle * Monthly reporting of various metrics * Mentor, coach, and develop new team members * Provide feedback and suggestions on process and systems improvements and take a leadership role during rollout of said processes and improvements * Prepare reports on the performance of export air departments and suggest improvements that will enhance the company’s profit margins, customer satisfaction as well as working closely with other senior department heads for the benefit of the company * Resolve customer complaints and be able to negotiate amicable settlements * Proactively provide pricing alternatives, routing solutions and technical assistance to clients * Respond to requests for proposal, quotation, or information timely and with market competitive pricing matching the scope of service required by the customer * Take an active role in the transition of new business/updates to existing business * Leveraging your expertise in air freight operations and supply chain management, you will optimize processes, monitor shipments, and lead a team to deliver exceptional service to our clients * Coordinate and oversee all aspects of air export operations, including booking, documentation, customs clearance, and shipment tracking * Implement best practices and streamline workflows to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction * Communicate proactively with clients to provide updates on shipment status, resolve issues, and address inquiries Education & Experience: * High school diploma or GED required * Bachelor's degree preferred * 3-5 years in international air export logistics pricing, sales, operations or similar role * Excellent time management skills and the ability to organize the team effectively and efficiently * Ability to make decisions at critical times and whilst under pressure * Ability to lead a team and be sensitive to the needs of others * Strong negotiation skills * Critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques * Experience with direct customer/vendor interface * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook * Experience in management of large volumes of email traffic * Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills * Organized and detail oriented Benefits/Perks: * Competitive compensation * Comprehensive Benefits package: + Medical, Prescription, Dental, Vision + Life, AD&D, & Disability insurance + Employee Assistance Program + Financial planning * 401(k) plan with up to 6% company match * Paid Time Off * Flexible work arrangements * Internal Mobility & professional development opportunities * Tuition assistance * Bonus Eligibility
