Meridian HealthCare is looking to hire a full-time Peer Support Specialist to work in our Maternal Opiate Medical Support (MOM's) Program in Mahoning County. WORK SCHEDULE FOR A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST These positions typically work within normal business hours, 8:30am - 4:30pm. ABOUT MERIDIAN HEALTHCARE Meridian HealthCare is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), integrated behavioral and primary healthcare organization with 50 years of high-quality service delivery in the Mahoning Valley. Since 1974, Meridian's mission has been to eliminate addiction by working with individuals and their families through recognition, prevention, consultation, healthcare, communication, support, and treatment, utilizing a person-centered approach that respects the dignity of every individual. In addition to offering a comprehensive approach to addiction (that includes prevention, treatment, recovery support, housing, criminal justice services and much more), we are also a trusted source for primary care, mental health services, chiropractic care and acupuncture. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST Participate in weekly treatment team to report on client progress in recovery and readiness to engage in goals indicated by the treatment plan. Develop recovery support services within the clinical and supportive programs including 12 Step Focused Recovery groups. Teach personal care/self-help, substance abuse recover and relapse preventions skills, as indicated in treatment plan. Teach parenting skills, prenatal instruction, and postnatal instruction. Introduce healthy lifestyle skills including nutrition of mom and baby. Collaborate with medical team and other treatment team members involved in client care. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST High School Diploma or GED Knowledge of Substance Abuse and Mental Health and Recovery Must maintain support certification from the Ohio Mental Health and Recovery Board within six (6) months of hire ARE YOU READY TO JOIN OUR TEAM?
