Position Summary The Engineering Associate position holds the responsibility for the safe, reliable, and economic round:the:clock operation of the generation, electric transmission, and distribution systems. Duties include Engineering responsibilities for the design, construction, maintenance, and operation activities of our power plants, transmission lines, substations, distribution system, gas systems, control centers and others. These Engineering duties may include continuous monitoring and balancing of energy flow and responding to system disturbances, along with all generation, distribution, and transmission activities that provide electric and gas services to customers. Tasks and Responsibilities:Attends seminars, continuing education opportunities for professional development:Evaluates and recommends new standards, products, and/or services:Recommends and implements improvements to processes and procedures:May include limited supervisory responsibilities, including lower level engineers:Makes frequent independent decisions and recommendations that affect the section, department, and/or division:Participates in and provides input to area budget:Actively works within financial objectives set by management:Handles work content that is complex:May provides engineering support to multiple work areas:Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned Minimum SkillsMinimum Knowledge and Abilities Must obtain approval by Business Unit Executive Leadership, as related to the business need for Engineering Associate 3's without their PE.Extensive engineering experienceSolid knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization.Demonstrated mastery of core engineering discipline skills or specialized functions required by business areaAbility to effectively lead technical initiatives and teams to successful completionDemonstrated ability to effectively handle a broad range of engineering assignments with minimum supervisionExperience leading cross:functional teams, people and projects in a matrixed organizationDemonstrated ability to manage project costs, timeline, scope, and risksEffective communication skills focused on understanding customer needs and developing resolutionStrong people skills, with bias for a collaborative working styleAbility to work call duty and occasional unscheduled work in the evenings, weekends, or holidays after experience level permitsAbility to travel occasionally, to off:site work, to seminars, manufacturing plant inspections, etc.Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling Preferred Qualifications:Engineer In Training (EIT) designation from Texas Board of Professional Engineers:Texas Professional Engineer (PE) certification Competencies Working with AmbiguityCommunicates EffectivelySetting a Strategic VisionDriving for ResultsBuilding and Supporting Teams Minimum Education Bachelors of Science degree in an engineering field from an ABET accredited four:year college or university Required CertificationsWorking Environment Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
