The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension is recognized regionally and nationally for leading and/or contributing to cutting:edge research, and advancing the knowledge about kidney diseases to patients, peers, and trainees. The division offers an exciting array of training opportunities in Nephrology, including enhanced training in transplantation, dialysis, quality improvement, and patient safety. The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for inpatient consultative care in all aspects of kidney disorders in medical or surgical settings, including ICU care. This role will involve the equivalent of one:half day clinic session per week and rounding on chronic dialysis shift patients in the community settings in Batesville, Indiana. There is no expectation of night call. Based on the clinical needs, weekend rounding may be available for an additional renumeration per the division/department standards. The candidate will round as a team with a Nephrologist, and there will be an optimal balance of autonomy as well as supervised/split:shared care based on the clinical needs. Essential Functions: Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.: Provide pre:transplant recipient evaluations including pre:op assessments, donor questionnaires and wait:list management.: Follow up on donor list, wait list, and pre:op care issues.: Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.: Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non:pharmacologic treatment modalities.: Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.: Maintain accurate medical records. : Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.: Educate patients about medical conditions and treatment plans.: Participate in research and development projects.: Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students and medical students.: Perform related duties based on departmental need. Required Education Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program Required Experience: Three (3) years nursing experience.: Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub:specialty.
