Together under the Shyft umbrella, our teams drive new synergies that bring innovations to life on the road - for an experience that is safer, more satisfying, more rewarding all around.With 50 years and millions of miles behind us, we continue to charge forward - leading the commercial vehicle transition to electric, innovating across all our brands, and earning our position among Fortune's 100 Fastest Growing Companies.What you'll do:SUMMARY:The Welder position is responsible for welding various materials.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Use modification and welding skills to build and rework product* Perform welding (AWS 3G/4G) according to blue prints* Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete welding in assigned area* Fabricate components from raw stock, as needed* Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etc. * Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or area* Self-check work and inspect prior processes * Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required* Meet production goals* Maintain a clean and safe work area* Initiate process improvements * Support 5S in work area* Lead / perform lean events* Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues* Solve complex problems with minimal assistanceWhat you need to be successful:QUALIFICATIONS:* Excellent attendance * Positive attitude* Strong and consistent attention to detail * Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task* Team oriented* Basic computer skills are required* Must be able to pass required welding certification DuraMag test.* Previous experience and/or certifications preferred * Must understand AWS welding symbols* Must be able to set up, adjust, and maintain welding machines* Must be able to Mig or Tig weld steel, stainless, and aluminum as needed* Willing to:o Learn and rotate within various weld areaso Wear PPE respirators for extended amount of timeo Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)* Able to:o Read and comprehend blue prints including weld specifications at a high levelo Work overtime on short noticeWhy The Shyft Group?We believe that when our people thrive personally and professionally, our business thrives.
