Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Admission Counselor to join the Enrollment Management team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. As an Admission Counselor, you are part of a team that develops relationships with prospective students and their families in the assigned territory and provides information about the application and enrollment process at Eckerd College. Depending on your experience, you may start as a Senior Admission Counselor. Our Admission Counselors demonstrate the ability to build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds including faculty, staff, students, prospective students, and families. In doing so, our counselors possess exceptional skills in multiple forms of communication, particularly with regard to public speaking and presenting to both internal and external audiences. The ability to organize and manage your time and schedule effectively is crucial to success in the position. Regular travel to assigned territory is required (7-9 weeks in the fall, 3-5 weeks in the spring) as well as after-hours work to attend admission events on campus. The admission team comprises a highly collaborative group of individuals who are committed to a student-centered admission process based on fit. Key Responsibilities Develop a strategic and deep understanding of a recruitment territory as it relates to meeting application, admission and enrollment goals established by the Director and Vice President. Interview and recruit prospective students and their parents for assigned territory. Review, evaluate and provide recommendations on admission files and applications, in excess of 70 per week during high volume periods. Utilize effective communication and relationship-building with prospective students, parents, and college counselors by letter, phone, e-mail and virtual conferencing. Explain and discuss financial aid processes and financial aid packages for new students. Assist with office event planning, research and publication projects. Represent the College and articulate the value of a liberal arts degree to various external constituencies such as prospective students and their parents, secondary school guidance counselors and teachers, influencers of prospective students, and others. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution, previous experience in college admissions is preferred but not required.
