Sr. Associate Scientist / Scientist I, Biochemistry

Position summary We are looking for a talented biochemist with broad experience purifying proteins and performing biochemical assays to join our Molecular Sciences team in San Diego. This position will work independently and under the direction of senior scientists to produce results to support platform projects. This role is well suited for a highly motivated, results-driven individual who is excited to join a fast-paced and innovative start-up company leading the way in the rapidly developing field of targeted protein degradation. Role and responsibilities Apply sophisticated protein purification techniques using multiple affinity and separation techniques for downstream applications including structural biology and biochemical screening Routinely execute established high-throughput assays including HTRF and DSF. Evaluate data, prepare protocols and record results in a timely manner. Support efforts for fragment identification and validation, SAR studies, and mechanism of action validation studies using various biochemical and biophysical techniques. Contribute to additional external assay screening efforts. Required education: Scientist I Recent PhD in Biochemistry or related field, MS with at least 3 years or BS with at least 6 years of relevant experience Sr. Associate Scientist BS in Biochemistry or related field with at least 12 years or MS with at least 9 years of relevant experience Required qualifications: Ability to purify proteins using multiple affinity and separation techniques. Experience with AKTA FPLC systems required. Experience in performing ligand-protein and protein-protein interaction assays. Highly organized, with a specific responsibility to keep a detailed inventory of biochemical and biophysical reagents Ability to perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel, Prism, or other analytical software Excellent data handling and recording skills as well as oral and written communication skills Self-motivated with the ability to multitask on multiple projects, and ability to work as a team player Critical thinker with strong oral and written communication skills and experience communicating data Preferred qualifications: Experience with biophysical and biochemical assay development Deep and broad experience in developing, troubleshooting, and executing high quality biochemical and biophysical screens in multiple formats Maintain higher eukaryotic cell lines Molecular biology techniques: stable-cell line generation and transient transfection/transduction Ability to use typical lab automation equipment including dispensers, multimode plate readers, etc. Broad experience in different protein expression systems including bacteria, insect, and mammalian cells Compensation range for the Scientist I level ranges from $113,000 to $132,000Compensation range for the Sr. Associate Scientist level ranges from - $110,000 to $145,000Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, education, internal equity and market demand.
