NATURE OF WORK: The Physician works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide professional health care services and coordinate care for Nisqually Health Clinic eligible patients. This is a broad-spectrum rural family practice that serves all ages and conditions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a medical doctor at the Nisqually Health Clinic medical clinic or designated site. Practice medicine in accordance with the current standards of care and within the scope of license, training, and credentials. Complete charting, including manual or electronic, and other required paperwork in a timely manner. Perform histories, physicals, and direct the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of Nisqually Health Clinic patients in local hospitals including participation in rounding schedule per admitting privileges. Make referrals to specialists, coordinate care, and follow-up to assure quality care while working with limited resources and following established policies and procedures. Provide on-site health education and counseling to patients and staff. Provide back-up consultation to other on-call Nisqually Health Clinic providers. Participate in utilization review studies and quality improvement committee as assigned. Coordinate with Health Business Office to perform the highest level of Evaluation & Management (E&M) coding to generate revenue accordingly. Establish procedures for record keeping and ensure filing systems are maintained and current. Ensure security and confidentiality of program data. Design and implement program policies and procedures, as consulted by chain of command. Coordinate, lead preparation, and participate in program audits. Provide outreach and education services to the community by working with tribal programs and community groups in developing and implementing preventative mental health programs and activities that are life skills as well as culturally sensitive. Develop and regularly disseminate outreach and educational materials, articles, pamphlets, and notices concerning mental health issues, topics, and resources. Provide regular consultation and in service training to other tribal programs in order to better identify and respond to mental health growth issues that impact the community. Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of patients serves by demonstrative knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Communicate appropriately with each patient served regardless of their age. Promote a safety-conscious workplace and maintain good housekeeping practices. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge, skill and ability necessary to provide care to specific age groups served in his/her assigned area. Sensitivity to and knowledge of Indian customs, traditions, and culture. Knowledge of current principles and practices of the professional health care and education delivery system. Knowledge of current medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment practices and procedures. Knowledge of and ability to use proper protection from blood born pathogens and body fluids. Knowledge of proper use and disposal techniques for sharps. Knowledge of and ability to use proper handling and disposal techniques for infectious waste and bio-hazards. Knowledge of standard office equipment including computer, electronic health records, and backup systems and procedures. Knowledge of and ability to use standard clinical medical equipment. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff and outside specialty providers both orally and in writing. Ability to educate others under guidance and direction. Ability to act independently. Ability to supervise and train lower-level health services program staff accordingly. Ability to ensure properly sterilize equipment, instruments within work area are completed effectively and accordingly. Ability to follow facility policies and procedures. Ability to keep work and patient areas clear and free of sharps and chemicals. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of Accredited medical school with degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) Completion of Accredited Residency. Successful training in a certified family practice residency as required. Current DEA certificate without restriction. Unrestricted license within Washington State. Board certified specialty (If newly graduated from residency, must be obtained within 3 years of graduation) must be kept current. Must have admitting privileges or be willing and able to obtain. Current CPR Certification and TB Testing. Must have a valid Washington State driver`s license and be insurable under the Nisqually Indian Tribe`s insurance policy.
