We are currently looking for a 2nd shift Foreman, who will be held accountable to the General Foreman for the efficient and effective performance of trade personnel while adhering to budgetary, quality, manpower, schedule, and safety requirements. We encourage you to learn moreabout our open positions and how you can become part of the important and exciting work we do here at NASSCO.Please review the job description below and apply if you are interested.Come join our team Shift:ALL Security Clearance:No Clearance PURPOSE AND FUNCTIONS The 2nd shift Foreman leads, guides, coordinates, trains, and supervises a team that may comprise of Journeyman Level Mechanics, Trainees, Helpers, and Subcontracted Labor. THIS POSITION IS FOR 2ND SHIFT. HOURS ARE 2:30pm : 11:00pm. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES : Both education and experience are taken into consideration.: BA/BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience or 8 years directly related ship building/ship repair experience.: In:depth knowledge in all facets of the trade relating to ship repair.: Working knowledge of contracting and estimating procedures.: Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of production processes, methods, quality, and technology.: Must be familiar with the requirements of MIL:STD:009:12, MIL:STD:1689, and S9074:AR:GIB:010/278.: Must be knowledgeable and experienced with welding pipe and structural components.: Must be able to certify as a level II visual inspector.: Effective leadership, communication, and team:building skills.: Proven ability in people environment.: Capable in Microsoft products. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Repetitive or prolonged sitting, climbing, balancing, and lifting. Lifting body weight, sitting, reaching, handling, pushing/pulling, standing, walking, leaning and seeing (to maintain visual contact with load), eye/hand/foot coordination. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing warning signals, reading and comprehending safety instructions and planning sequence. Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee's work area.The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, or controls, and to talk/hear. Must be physically able to walk to all yard locations, on board ships and vessels. Must be able to lift weights up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. VISION REQUIREMENTSVisual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach or performing mechanical or skilled trade tasks of a non:repetitive nature such as ones by electricians, technicians, service people, painters, mechanics, etc. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the General Foreman. This position typically has direct reports for 8:20 skilled, semi:skilled, unskilled employees and / or trade subcontractors. Supports Production and Program Management by monitoring and managing manpower resources, quality, and schedule and budget performance. RESPONSIBILITIES : On:site deck:plate leader for the trade, working with a team of typically 8:20 mechanics to accomplish assigned production activities.
