Summary Provide focused and episodic care for outpatient and inpatient Radiology patients. This includes care in the Radiology preparatory areas, intra-procedural monitoring and administration of sedation/analgesia, and post-procedural or diagnostic study recovery as well as provide patient/family education, for a variety of adult and pediatric patient populations. Respond to emergency care calls in all areas of Radiology. Maintain clinical competencies, assist with quality assurance activities, act as a role model, and assist in monitoring unit practices.To provide comprehensive professional nursing (80%) and educational support (20%). Complete needs assessments to identify gaps, create and implement education and/or training to improve outcomes. Partner and collaborate with other clinical and educational teams to standardize patient care processes. Facilitate and maintain quality improvement / LEAN activities. In coordination with the leadership team, design and implement education programs to meet practice standards as well as compliance and regulatory requirements? Develop standard orientation documents for staff nurses and assistive personnel.? Conduct education assessment surveys on a regular schedule to determine the learning needs of nurses and assistive personnel.? Coordinate in-services based on results of education assessment surveys and other identified needs for learning.? Provide and coordinate continued education (CE) opportunities for staff nurses.? Become a superuser for MiChart and act as a resource to clinical staff.? Partner with ambulatory care leadership and other roles on quality improvement initiatives. This includes designing/planning, implementation, re-evaluation of initiatives. Report data on quality improvement projects to ambulatory care leadership and staff.? Develop/revise patient education materials in partnership with Unit Based Committees, physicians, staff, and other key stakeholders.? Assist ambulatory care leadership with special projects as needed.? Investigate, design and implement competency-based orientation program? Work collaboratively with the UH MPU ENC, PACU ENC and OR ENC, Quality Improvement, and other disciplines to meet the educational goals and objectives of the department thus providing high quality patient care in compliance with all department policies and quality measures.? Maintain current knowledge of Joint Commission Standards, ASPAN Standards, SGNA Standards, MPU policies/procedures and all state and federal regulations required by law.? Establishes a collaborative and consultative relationship with the multidisciplinary clinical team.? Continuously plans, implements, assesses, and evaluates staff and student education programs, professional development and learning experiences? Demonstrates proficiency in clinical practice by periodic staffing to maintain clinical competency, including but not limited to Preop, Phase I, Phase II, PACU and intraprocedural phases of care including the endoscopy technician role. ? Works collaboratively with leadership team while maintaining knowledge of specific staffing needs for individual services? Active member of the MPU Unit Based Council.? Design and participate in producing self-instruction and multi-media education programs for unit staff.? Understands the theory-based approach to Peri anesthesia nursing using ASPAN Standards and Practice Guidelines? Understand the theory-based approach to Gastroenterology Procedural nursing (SGNA) Standards? Promote the integration of research and evidence-based practice findings into clinical practice for the ambulatory procedural setting.? Actively participates in a professional organization: such as SGNA, MAPAN or ASPAN.? Actively promote Framework Advancement for self and staff members.? Works collaboratively with preceptors to onboard new hires and develop individualized teaching plans based on the individual learner.? Collaborates with the ambulatory ENC network.? Participates in institutional committees relevant to the educational nurse coordinator.? Travel between sites is required regularly; Brighton Center for Specialty Care, East Ann Arbor Medical Procedures Center, and Northville Medical Procedures Center Act as a positive and professional role model while teaching, coaching, and mentoring within the work areas identified? Acts as a positive and professional role model while teaching, coaching, and mentoring staff? 20% staffing is required Supervision Received From: Direction is received from the Senior Nursing Director and Supervisors for Ambulatory MPU sites Supervision Exercised: Functional supervision may be exercised over Registered Nurses Level A - F, LPN's, Techs, Service/Maintenance, and other support staff.
