Department: Applications Engineering Position/Title: Service Engineer II Location: Camarillo, CA Reporting To: Head of Applications Engineering FLSA Status: Salary Range: Exempt $85,000 - $100,000 Annually GENERAL PURPOSE Service Engineer II is responsible, as a technical liaison with customers, for performing technical services and support on the PBS bioreactor product as well as resolving any technical issues that may occur on the PBS bioreactor based on solid understanding of its design and components. This person should be relatively proficient with diagnosing problems, replacing and upgrading hardware/ software components, and documenting services accurately while maintaining proper care and equipment of tools. This person is also responsible for helping to develop and maintain field service documents. Responsibilities Essential functions of the job are listed below. Primary Responsibilities Perform scheduled on-site services such as IQ/OQ, system installation, and preventative maintenance (PM) on PBS bioreactors in the field reliably, in a timely manner, and with proper documentation. Troubleshoot and resolve in-depth PBS bioreactor hardware/ software-related issues/ questions in the field via calls, e-mails, and on-site visits in a professional manner. Issues that are beyond the level of expertise by a Service Engineer I may be elevated to this person. Provide necessary training for on-boarding of new Service Engineers. Act as back-up internal resource for developing user requirements for product development, communicating feedback from customers to internal team as applicable. Develop and help maintain field service procedures that pertain to his/ her skill set. Minimum Qualifications The following are the minimum qualifications that an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location. Knowledge/ Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field with 3 + years of work experience at electromechanical equipment manufacturer(s). Hands-on experience working with bioprocess equipment. Solid understanding of bioreactor functions and components. Skills/ Abilities Pertinent to This Position Positive attitude and superb interpersonal skills, with ability to build quick rapport with new people. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to write service reports accurately and legibly. Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 2 weeks per month. Ability to work individually with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a multi-functional team.
