Job Highlights: Skills - Must Have:CPA eligible or have JD/ passed the bar 3-7 years in direct tax experience (state franchise and income tax)Ideal Companies to Recruit From:Mid-sized Firms (Plante Moran, Crowe, RSM, Grant Thornton, Forvis, Baker Tilly, Moss Adams, Cohn Reznick, Eisner Amper, Armanino, etc.) No Big 4 candidates!Hiring Status:ActiveAbout this Job: Open to Hybrid: Tax staff and seniors need to be in Chicago for lunch and learns weekly in the summer and the entire the tax department is in office 2 days a week during busy season, very flexible outside of season. How You Will Contribute: 60% review and 40% preparation of franchise and income tax returns for various states, including exemptions, credits, and incentives. Participate in a full range of SALT engagements, tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, and counseling clients in defending against state audits. Assist with sales/use taxes to identify corporate structures that can reduce client's tax liability. Recognize and inform senior management of opportunities to increase level and types of services to clients. Participate in continuing education classes to stay up to date on accounting standards and tax law. Assist with training and developing staff. About YOU! Bachelors or masters degree in accounting or tax.
