Title: Part-Time Motor Lab Teacher Purpose: The Motor Lab teacher is responsible for planning and presenting a developmentally appropriate gross motor curriculum for preschool and elementary-age children and creating a caring and nurturing environment using the Ready Bodies, Learning Minds (RBLM) curriculum. Work Hours: 20 hrs. per week Reports: Reports to the Lower School Principal FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Part-time Qualifications: Must be a Christ-follower who upholds, in word and deed, the Hill Country Christian School of Austin’s Core Values and Statement of Faith. Must faithfully attend a church whose fundamental beliefs agree with this school's Statement of Faith. Must be skilled in handling multiple tasks simultaneously and be flexible to cover other duties as needed. Applicants must have experience working with young children in a school setting and hold a Degree from an accredited college or university. remove this section as an occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA). With at least 2 years experience. Teaching Responsibilities: Must have a passion for working with young children. Can develop and administer gross motor classes consistent with Ready Body, Learning Minds (RBLM) goals and objectives listed below: Help children develop the skills necessary for learning readiness and mastery of the environment. Improve a child's ability to maneuver and function in their environment, leading them to better performances in tasks such as handwriting, sitting still, paying attention, speaking, and behavior. Stimulate the child’s sensory systems. Ability to better control themselves and accomplish tasks by making children aware of their environment and learning about movement. Create a base for the skill-building of physical education. Build a structure for the acquisition of academic skills. Facilitate motor and rhythmic development for classes. Encourage the engagement of all children. Implement learning and behavior expectations for each class. Staff Member Responsibilities: Model and promote high Christian standards and expectations for all students and peer staff to encourage excellent academic performance and godly character. Conduct yourself in the highest Christ-like behavior and decorum consistent with a professional school environment in all interactions with students, parents, and school staff. Establish a professional rapport with students and staff that maintains their respect. Establish and maintain positive communication with school staff, students, and parents, and be part of a supportive and encouraging team. Address students with a kind and caring attitude and redirect redemptively. Know and comply with school policies and the handbook. Address any staff, student, or parent issues by the principles outlined in Matthew 18 as commanded by Jesus Christ. Notify the head of school, principal, and nurse immediately and any appropriate agencies when there is evidence of substance abuse, child abuse/neglect, severe medical conditions, potential suicide, or students appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. Notify school officials and administration immediately when any behavior that directly or indirectly poses a physical risk to other staff, faculty, or students is observed or discovered. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: Must be able to model and perform stretches and activities for students who attend motor lab. Must be able to frequently move about inside campus buildings and outside on the grounds. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods. Must be able to grasp, move, or assemble small objects. Must be able to exchange accurate and professional information in person, via email, or by telephone. Frequently communicates with supervisor, after school care staff, and coordinator. Possess the physical stamina required to fulfill professional obligations and be able to lift 5 to 35 pounds. Possible exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.
