Job Details Job Location Talbert Health Center - Clackamas, OR Position Type Full Time (30+ hrs. or more) Education Level Addictions/SUD Certification (CADC) Salary Range $21.02 - $24.36 Hourly Job Shift Day Job Category Mental Health & SUD Description The position is located at Talbert Health Center. Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This position will consist of 3 days on-site and two days remote. This may change in the near future, if Cascadia changes expectations for on-site days for Health Center clinicians. The Addiction and Recovery Counselor I or II works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment, providing addiction services to assigned clients; including developing or assisting in the development of service plans tailored to each clients needs. The incumbent will collaborate with internal and external resources to assure the best possible treatment for clients. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based, client centered approach to assisting clients in achieving individual goals. All incumbents must understand, appreciate and respect the diversity and cultural differences within our Cascadia community. It is expected that there is an awareness and sensitivity to the perspectives and perceptions to those we serve, as well as our colleagues. As Cascadia is Trauma informed, the incumbent must support a Trauma Informed Care Environment. With the high prevalence of trauma among individuals receiving behavioral health services, it is required that the incumbent understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those we serve. Essential Duties: This position description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of responsibilities or an all inclusive job description. Assess client needs and complete an Addiction Assessment. Integrate best practices into the day-to-day operations including; Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing. Participate in the development and implementation of client service plans utilizing established treatment models by assessing client behavior. Implement treatment plans utilizing established treatment models. Coach clients in setting their own goals and identifying realistic steps in order to achieve the goals. Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and recommend alternate strategies as necessary. Be flexible and able to support fellow co-workers and ask for clinical support when needed. Work cooperatively in a team setting to coordinate continuity of care; coordinate with internal and external service providers. Facilitate both group and individual therapy, build relapse prevention plans, conduct family/support person sessions, and termination sessions. Perform UA sample collections weekly for clients, keeping in mind of chain of custody. Know and adhere to generally accepted treatment standards, departmental rules, company policies and terms and conditions of contracts or grants. Assist with training new staff. Document and maintain electronic health record (EHR) and ancillary records in a manner that assures compliance with all agency policies, program procedures and local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation associated with billing, assessment, treatment, residents progress, consultation, contacts, and other activities as required. Respect and honor client rights and responsibilities and demonstrate professional boundaries and ethics. Assist in crisis situations as appropriate, following emergency protocols/procedures and coordinating with the treatment team with interventions which support a trauma informed environment for residents and staff. Demonstrate responsibility for safety of clients, staff and property; possess familiarity with fire regulations and evacuation procedures. Understand and abide by federal regulation of Alcohol and Drug information, 42CFR Part 2 and HIPAA regulations for client confidentiality. Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and agency meetings. Complete annual employee training requirements on a timely basis as indicated in the licensing requirements for the facility as well as agency requirements. Attend seminars, training and other educational opportunities in order to develop professional skills and abilities. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Addiction and Recovery Conselor I: Must be a CADC Registrant and and obtain CADC within two years of applicant status. Addiction and Recovery Counselor II: CADC-R and an Associate's degree or certificate in Addictions programming, OR CADCI, or CADCII. Knowledge and experience in working with clients involved with the Child Welfare System, gender specific populations, and clients coming from the criminal justice system preferred. Understanding of strength based case management philosophies and strategies Understanding of trauma informed services Ability to implement recovery model, motivational interviewing, and stages of change Ability to operate computer hardware and software (including Electronic Medical Record software) at a level needed to effectively perform job functions Knowledge of accepted treatment practice Ability to enter data and retrieve data and to prepare simple reports Knowledge of DBT and Seeking Safety curriculum for men and women. Working Conditions This position is located in an out-patient clinic setting serving a diverse population of women and men in addictions treatment, who are involved with substance abuse and dependency issues, and who have involvement with the Criminal Justice as well as Child Welfare Systems. Daily routines may be hectic and will likely require the Counselor II to perform various of the sites functions and, on occasion, perform the tasks of other employees as needed. Meal periods and breaks are subject to interruption. Universal Precautions and remaining alert to the environment are critical to address the potential for violent behavior, exposure to disease, biohazards, noise and contaminants. The schedule for this position will be determined based on FTE and program needs. Mental Demands: The work assigned is diverse and involves addressing new and unusual circumstances in which outcomes may negatively affect costs, employee morale or clients. The work regularly involves a degree of unpredictability and disruption of planned tasks requiring a flexible time management approach. Physical Demands: Activities and structure support community integration and assist clients in learning socially acceptable behaviors.
