FTE: 1.00 FTE (40 hours/week) Status: Exempt Created: March 2024 Job Number: FSCRSG0404 General Description: Metropolitan Family Service position descriptions are guidelines. We build strong relationships by collaborating with our funders, partners, and highly trained volunteers, always striving for an extensive commitment to diversity CORE VALUES Equity & Social Justice Values working in a multicultural, diverse environment Values and supports inclusion and program access for clients Supports agency goals for reducing disparities in outcomes for communities of color Adopts anti-racism approaches to services by understanding and acknowledging systemic and individual racism and privilege General Function: Under the supervision of the Early Learning Program Manager, the Family Support Coordinator will provide child development services, social services, health services and parent education services to families including home visits, advocacy and crisis intervention. The Family Support Coordinator will plan and implement a safe and developmentally appropriate experience for infants, toddlers and preschool age children, and home visits appropriate to the needs of each family in accordance with program guidelines. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide child development, parent education and family support through home visits to families of children zero to five years old and/or pregnant mothers Plan and facilitate parent-child interaction groups and parent support groups Schedule and lead field trips in the community and local library Provide developmentally appropriate curriculum, and a caring, nurturing and soothing environment for children Develop, in partnership with parents, an individual development plan for each child Develop family partnership agreements with each family and support families in achieving goals Provide social services to families including advocacy, emergency assistance and referrals to the community. Assist families in meeting their health needs including identifying and establishing a medical home and the provision of well child care Develop and maintain contacts with other social service agencies, health agencies and mental health agencies and public schools within the community Organize and maintain program/families' files and documentation and ensuring these files remain up to date Apply children developmental screenings (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE), and other assessments on a regular bases or as needed. Maintain up-to-date data entry into the WellSky/Service Point and Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) databases Conduct ongoing community outreach to identify families of young children who are not linked to any early childhood programs Attend regularly occurring supervision meetings with Program Manager, Program Staff, and Agency Support and manage program evaluation surveys Collaboration Ability to work effectively in collaboration within all program areas of MFS as well as other agencies Ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups Commitment to provide overall agency program support to ensure excellence in programs and delivery of services Ability to connect position roles and agency mission Teamwork Ability and commitment to work effectively within a team-dependent environment and provide leadership and support to staff to demonstrate effective team dynamics Values the inclusion of multiple voices, including clients/service users, in the design and implementation of programs and services. Participate with the Ready, Set, Go! team in regular meetings, trainings and support other RSG Site Coordinators as needed Program Administration Knowledge and competency to operate a laptop. Competency in using Google Suite, Word, Excel and various database programs Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Possesses excellent time management, administrative and organizational skills Ability to effectively manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information Ability to work independently Ability to proactively problem-solve and resolve conflict Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Ability to read, write and speak fluently in Spanish (or other language) and English is preferred Ability to provide strength-based resource and referral services to families Ability to recognize and manage critical situations including following mandatory reporting regulations and responsibilities Model expected behavior for children and adults guided by appropriate child development Ability and commitment to continuous quality improvements and innovation Ability to understand and execute Ready, Set, Go! program philosophy in day to day duties Education and Experience Requirements: Associate Degree, or higher education degree in Early Childhood Education and child development; or equivalent related experience Training and a minimum of 2 years of experience in social services, parent education, and social service program development Experience working in collaboration with a variety of agencies and programs Experience working in a public-school setting and/or with the early learning community Fluency and ability to communicate effectively (read, write, speak) in Spanish (or other language) and English is preferred Other Requirements: Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle must maintain a valid driver's license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy. MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background check. We review the results of all background checks individually and consider all of the circumstances of any issues that arise in a background check during the hiring process. Work Environment: Generally, work is performed in an office environment, at community events, and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires the ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, fax machine, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
