Job Overview The Staff Engineer needed is a seasoned DevOps Engineer that can lead the orchestration of provisioning lower environments across various tech stacks. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the development of overall templates utilizing GitLab, and deploying them using GKE containers in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) through automation. What You Will Do Design and implement strategies for provisioning lower environments across different tech stacks. Lead the development and maintenance of templates using GitLab for environment provisioning. Utilize GKE containers in GCP to deploy infrastructure and applications efficiently. Automate deployment processes to ensure rapid and reliable delivery of environments. Establish eventing of pipelines to Kafka stream data to a time series database. Commit to overall deliverables with customers and/or management. Serve as a coach and mentor to more junior developers, including delegating and managing tasks as appropriate. Act as a technical expert on existing applications and other inter-related/adjacent systems and applications. Design systems/applications with a high level of complexity, such as those with many interfaces or multiple packages and platforms. Evaluate the applicability of leading-edge technologies and use this information to significantly influence future business strategies. Generate technical and/or business systems knowledge and ideas from external sources, and incorporate those ideas into IT work. Consistently demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. Skills You Will Need The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of eventing pipelines to a time series database, with OpenTelemetry expertise considered a plus. Extensive experience 8 in DevOps engineering and reusable pipelines. Proficiency in Python, GO or Java Proficiency in GitLab / Jenkins / ArgoCD , CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (IaC). Strong knowledge of deploying and managing containers in GKE on GCP. Expertise in automation tools and scripting languages, particularly Python. Must have monitoring and alerting skills, DataDog, NewRelic, Dynatrace, Open Telemetry Experience with eventing pipelines and streaming data to a time series database. API programming skills for integrating with tools like Jira, DynaTrace, Synk, and Google Cloud. Java Enterprise: Extensive experience (8-10 years) with Java Enterprise, Java application servers (such as Websphere, Weblogic, or JBOSS), and relational databases (Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server). Web Services and Messaging Layer: Proficiency (3-5 years) in Web Services and Messaging Layer using SOAP, REST, JAXB, and JMS. Architecture Knowledge: In-depth understanding of event-driven architecture (EDA) and service-oriented architecture (SOA). Technical Proficiency: Python programming proficiency is essential, along with API programming skills for tools like Jira, DynaTrace, Synk and Google Cloud. Deep technical understanding of enterprise systems technologies, including Java/J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, EMS, Kafka, JBoss, RDBMS, Cloud/Microservices, Caching, Secure Development Lifecycle, and Distributed Processing. CI/CD and DevOps: Experience in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), DevOps processes and tools, and Containerization. Application Flow Understanding: Broad comprehension of application flow and technical architectures. Effective Communication: Ability to effectively share technical information and communicate technical issues and solutions to stakeholders at all levels of the business. Project Management: Capability to handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and effectively communicate timelines to team members. Ownership Mentality: Desire and ability to take ownership of products/projects. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to identify primary and secondary project objectives and prioritize tasks accordingly.
