College Preparation Math Literacy Coordinator Full Time Salary: $51,500 and Full Benefits Application Deadline: Open Until Filled Priority Screening: May 13, 2024 @ 4:00pm EST Position Summary: The College Preparation Math Literacy Coordinator shall have responsibility for all non-credit, college preparation math literacy programs including the New Start Math and Digital Literacy Preparation Program, GED math, and preparation for technician certification programs in multiple industries. The College Preparation Math Literacy Coordinator will also serve as the lead instructor for all non-credit college preparation math courses and coordinate part-time math instructors in these programs. The College Preparation Math Literacy Coordinator reports to the Vice President for Workforce, Economic Development, and Community Partnerships. This position is grant funded through August 31, 2025. Major Responsibilities Include : Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate all non-credit college preparation math literacy programs. Maintain a teaching load of math literacy and GED math classes equivalent to no more than 6 credit hours Work with the SUNY Ulster STEM Department and the College Math Coordinator / Developmental Math Coordinator to ensure that the non-credit college preparation math curricula align with SUNY Ulster math pathways. Work with the Assistant Dean for Workforce and other workforce program coordinators to align math preparation programs to industry certification programs. Develop, implement, and evaluate student placement assessments. Coordinate college preparation math programs using external learning platforms such as Alex PPL Supervise and evaluate all non-credit math and literacy instructors Provide direct student support and assist students in navigating SUNY Ulster academic student services. Work as a member of the New Start and Continuing Education teams to implement program components that build the culture of the cohorts and nurture student success; participate in the New Start student engagement model that includes Mobility Mentoring coaching and engaging student voices in program decisions Provide a warm first point of contact and friendly face for program participants; cultivate a sensitive and compassionate environment that fosters accountability, trust and confidentiality. In Addition: Work as a part of a larger team at SUNY Ulster to envision the College’s role in and contribution to supporting economic and social mobility for individuals in Ulster County, including collaboration with various College departments and outside agencies and ensuring the student and program alumni voice in ongoing program development. Assisting in grant application processes as needed. Other duties as assigned. Ability To: Provide effective service and communicate with the targeted student groups and the local community. Use MS Office, Brightspace, Google Drive, Banner SSB, and online learning platforms like ALEKS, MyLab, and WebAssign Communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Work independently and exercise discretionary judgment within the scope of responsibility. Prioritize tasks and multi-task. Collect and organize data Establish and maintain positive, working relationships using interpersonal skills including tact, patience and diplomacy, with the diverse constituencies within and outside of the College, in the course of performing duties. Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s and/or teacher certification preferred, and relevant experience coordinating and teaching literacy; strong administrative and program support skills, experience related to understanding of the unique skills and needs of the target student population. Salary: Salary is $51,500 per year. Full Time; 12 months per year; 35 hours per week. All positions are contingent upon adequate funding. In addition, OPAP-covered members receive, on an annual basis: 24 vacation days, 12 sick days, 6 personal days, and 11 holidays including 4 floating holidays. In addition, the College is closed on the day prior to Thanksgiving, and between December 26 - January, 1, known as the Holiday Curtailment. Application Process The position is open until filled.
