Dr. Michael Youssef founded the church with a small group of families in 1987, with the vision for reaching the lost and equipping the saints for the work of ministry. COTA serves a local congregation of more than 3,000 through its various church ministries, as well as a growing domestic and international community through its media ministry. The STS (Student-to-Student) ministry exists to see 5th-12th grade students grow in the knowledge of God and His Word (KNOW), establish godly friendships with staff, volunteers and other students in community (BE KNOWN), and challenge students to proclaim and live out the gospel in their homes, schools, and communities (MAKE KNOWN). Through partnering with parents and families, creating intentional and meaningful small groups, and teaching Gods Word faithfully, the STS team seeks to encourage and help students grow in Christ. Job Description The Student Ministry Assistant works with the Director of Student Ministry and the STS ministry team to coordinate and oversee ministry planning, providing structure and organization for day-to-day ministry work, yearly trips, and regular events allows for the mutual flourishing of all involved in our ministry. This role is critical to fulfilling the vision of STS: to know God and His Word, to be truly known by one another, and to make Christ known to those around us.Responsibilities of the Student Ministry Assistant include but are not limited to: Administrative Support Send volunteer weekly emails ahead of Sunday mornings, to include teaching materials for the upcoming week, information on upcoming events, announcements, and any other important information Prepare classrooms for Sunday morning use, including coffee supplies and breakfast items in the Junior/Senior Room, volunteer folders in small group locations, pancake breakfast supplies, water, and more Encourage volunteers by buying volunteer gifts twice a year (Christmas and the end of the school year) Plan, schedule, organize, and execute volunteer lunches to include setting up online registration, emailing details, ordering food, and attending Organize a schedule, twice a semester, for the pancake breakfast service team Ensure STS facilities are ready for Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and other meetings and events throughout the year Send emails and text communication to parents about upcoming events Create and send mailers about summer and fall schedules as well as individual events Organize all parents meetings, to include ordering food, reserving and preparing facilities, and sending out communication Update the STS website with information about Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, making sure events are up to date on the website Assist in staff meeting preparation, providing an agenda and preparing any necessary documents Report numbers for all STS gatherings and events to internal COTA staff STS Events, Retreats, and Trips Plan and organize all STS events, retreats and trips, to include but not limited to reserving transportation and lodging, organizing parent info meetings, designing and ordering t-shirts, creating student and parent prep materials, and purchasing food and medical supplies Design and decorate events around unique, fun, and memorable themes Create and oversee event registration and promotional materials for STS trips and events, and ensure the website is updated with event and registration information Prepare budgets for approval Communicate frequently and clearly with parents about the details and deadlines of upcoming events Coordinate check-ins at the time of the event Organize volunteers and assign detailed responsibilities for each Qualifications The Student Ministry Assistant position is both administrative and relational. To thrive and be successful, you must be proactive and possess the ability to anticipate needs. If you prefer environments in which the work flows to you, then this role may not be the best fit. To qualify as a candidate you should possess the following characteristics and experience: Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university is preferred but not required Effective verbal and written communications skills, and excellence in English grammar Able to work Sunday through Thursday, plus additional time for attending events and trips Highly attentive to details Excellent organizational skills Enjoys creative event planning Strong research skills and social media experience is preferred Great flexibility to deal with unexpected issues The ability to handle and maintain confidential information Additionally, in order to be considered as a candidate for this position and as a condition of employment, you must be in agreement with the following Statement of Faith.
