Job purpose The Lead Child/Adolescent Clinician for Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) is the clinical leader for the child-focused IOP programs at Fair Haven Community Health Care (FHCHC). The position manages the day to day clinical issues/clinical staff of assigned IOP clinicians and liaisons with other FHCHC clinical leaders to ensure integration with other clinical and enabling services. The position also liaisons with external partners to ensure awareness of and access to IOP programming, and oversees the flow of children/adolescents into and out of IOP care. Duties and responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Behavioral Health, the IOP Program Clinical Manager supervises daily activities of clinical team, including Intensive Outpatient Services and/or other services delivered. The role ensures that delivered services meet the mission and vision of FHCHC and align with Patient-Centered Medical Home principles. Primary duties and responsibilities include: Provide group and individual therapy in both IOP and OP settings Monitors and oversees admissions and discharges into services, co-signs all appropriate documentation ensuring appropriate utilization of services of the clinical team. Monitors entry-into-care for IOP clients and completes appropriate insurance authorizations and treatment plans. Manages staff schedules for maximum utilization of staff time and ensures clinical coverage for extended clinic hours. Monitors staff schedules when staff have time off in order to ensure appropriate clinical coverage. Conducts chart audits as part of continuous quality improvement focused on ensuring that third party payer compliance requirements (documentation, treatment plans, and medical necessity) are met regularly and that clinical goals are met. Provides and ensures the ongoing appropriateness and quality of client care. Assists in the development and ongoing revision of the program services and policies. Oversees implementation of new services offered through the program. Integrates the IOP programs with other service programs within FHCHC and with external providers of behavioral health and medical care. Provides after-hour on call administrative and clinical backup on behalf of Agency to contract crisis service. Reviews treatment plans and other case records of staff to provide advice, direction and consultation and to ensure that work is being performed according to established policies and compliant with oversight bodies. Provide weekly or bi-weekly supervision to clinical team members. Demonstrates advanced Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment competencies. Assists Director of Behavioral Health or their designee in interviews and hiring new staff. Ensures appropriate staff education relevant to service provision. Provides back-up for intakes and groups as needed. May require work in the evenings to Supervise staff during evening operating hours. Complete all e-requestor tasks as requested by clinical staff. Periodically and formally evaluates clinical staff and assists them where indicated in improving performance. Reports out operational and clinical quality data pertinent to IOP programs to behavioral health and clinical leadership and participates in continuous quality improvement of the programs. Provides community education and outreach as needed. Continually evaluates and improves the program with a demonstrated understanding of the expected results. Fosters collaboration within the treatment team and among the Organization’s departments. Meets program productivity standards. May be required to use own vehicle on company business. Attends training sessions, workshops, and seminars as requested by supervisor, or as needed for professional development, or as required for accreditation or licensing. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. Qualifications Master’s Degree in health and human services field. Five years’ experience in a psychiatric or substance abuse setting. Minimum of one year supervisory/managerial experience strongly preferred. Must have working knowledge of computer applications, and if applicable ability to navigate through electronic health record. Current Connecticut professional licensure: LCSW, LMFT, LPC, Psy.D.,Ph.D. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred Direct Reports Supervises outpatient clinical staff (2) OSHA STATUS Category I—Increased Risk Position Potential exposure to hazardous waste and blood borne pathogens, clinical settings Physical requirements Physical Demands: Requires walking, bending, sitting, standing, writing, reading, telephone use, data input into computer, pulling medical records, Mental Demands: Ability to cope with continual changing priorities under potentially stressful conditions Manual Dexterity Required: Ability to use a keyboard, telephone.
