Summary To assist surgical team during operative procedures by preparing sterile equipment for the operation, and in addition passing instruments, sponges and sutures to the operating team. Required Qualifications* Surgical Technologist Senior requirements: High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required. Experience in the Operating Room O.R. setting performing scrub duties in multi-surgical specialties. Minimum of 3 years of recent O.R. experience is required for placement at the Senior level. Two years' experience as a Surgical Technologist is required. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member. Ability to meet functional job requirements. Demonstrated excellence in professional communication. Recent prior experience in scrubbing complex orthopedic cases. Surgical Technologist Intermediate requirements: High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program is required. Experience in the Operating Room O.R. setting performing scrub duties in multi-surgical specialties. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member. Ability to meet functional job requirements. Demonstrated excellence in professional communication. Recent prior experience in scrubbing complex orthopedic cases. Desired Qualifications* Ambulatory surgery experience. Ability to scrub Orthopedic Sports Medicine. Adult Otolaryngology. Plastic, General, Urology, and Gynecological Surgery and VASCULAR. Self motivated and excellent organization skills. Completion of a Surgical Technologist certification program. Work Schedule This is for .9 full-time position, 36 hours a week/ 3 12 hour shifts, 7a-730p,with Saturday Rotation until January 1, 2025, when Saturday rotations will end. Underfill Statement This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Union Affiliation This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment. Background Screening Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
