Talladega College invites qualified candidates for a Music Instructor/Staff Accompanist. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Possess strong sight-reading ability. Demonstrate technical training and proficiency in piano performance. Accompany solo instrumentalists, vocalists, and ensemble groups. Demonstrate satisfactory knowledge and experience in accompanying the various genres of music from classical to 21st century at the college level. Accompany applied lessons, rehearsals, juries, senior recitals, competitions, master classes, and other events as needed. Coach students in one-on-one rehearsals to work with the students to make sure the technical aspects of the musical elements, correcting notes, rhythms, intonation, and providing feedback on music interpretation, character, phrasing, etc. Schedule rehearsals with students. Demonstrate strong communication skills verbal and written. Have the ability to work with music and non-music majors and students with diversities. Work closely with and report to the Chair of the Music Department Qualifications Master’s degree in music required, majoring in keyboard instruments. Minimum three years of accompanying music students in colleges/universities. Ability to serve as a vocal/instrument coach to prepare students for recitals and juries. Experience or ability to teach class piano (group piano) and other music courses as needed. A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with colleagues and students, promoting diversity and equity. The ideal candidate will have excellent teaching skills, good interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collegially.
