JOB DESCRIPTION The Project Manager I (CIP) is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities and systems. Duties at this level include, but are not limited to: participating in the conceptual development of a construction project; and managing schedules and budgets. This position requires an experienced, professional capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the profession with limited guidance or review. This level would be considered a promotional level and attainable by any incumbents in a work group who demonstrate the necessary knowledge, ability, and performance.Supervision ReceivedWorks under very general supervision. Depending on organization structure, may work independently with responsibility for an assigned function or program.RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Duties and Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned.Performs team and individual performance evaluations and reporting. Tracks and reviews departmental performance measures.Reviews contractors' daily journals for comparison to inspectors' daily journals for accuracy and congruency to avoid any conflicts when contractors are preparing applications for payment to the City for delivered work.Plans out projects by creating a comprehensive set of guidelines that will enable the project team to deliver the project objectives.Monitors and controls project efforts by reviewing project work results and comparing them to planned results.Decision MakingApplies organizational policies. Selects from multiple procedures and methods to accomplish tasks.Establishes work methods, timetables, performance standards, etc.Leadership providedTypically has formal project management and/or skills development responsibilities.Manages progress meetings to review status of ongoing projects and coordinates with the Senior Program/Project Managers, Safety Officer, Project Controls/Schedule Manager, Permit Coordinator and Land Acquisition team to review work in progress and data deliverables to ensure the project is within budget and on time.Knowledge Skills and Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list.Knowledge of: principles and practices of project management including scope development and tracking, organization planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management and conflict managementSkills in: time management of self and others; listening and communicating exceptionally to effectively convey information verbally and in writing; analytical skills with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving and streamlining complex work processes; motivating, developing and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job; using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.Ability to: manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing a variety of tasks, assignments, projects and reports, working with attention to details; use good judgment and common sense when making decisions and solving problems; and network with civic, community and other special interest groups.QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in environmental management, business, real estate, public administration, civil engineering, urban forestry or a related field. 2-4 years of related experience and at least 1 year of managerial and supervisory experience is required.Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in architecture, civil engineering, environmental engineering or a related field; and 3 years of project management or construction management experience. Knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft Suite.Licensures and CertificationsDesirable: licensure or professional certifications applicable to the position. Required: Valid Georgia driver's license.Essential Capabilities and Work Environment Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully.
