About this position: The Planning Engineer is tasked with finding innovative engineering solutions to solve complex issues of today's electric grid and designing the grid of the future. This position is part of a dynamic planning team that performs transmission planning studies and related activities across Montana and South Dakota. This Engineer should be able to work both independently and be a high contributor to the team. About this job: Use sound analytical skills to model, perform transmission studies, propose solutions to problems, and plan the transmission system for Montana and South Dakota Develop base cases and conduct transmission system studies, using power flow and stability simulation software Maintain compliance with all related reliability standards including industry and regulatory Prepare reports and present results to management and/or internal and external customers Make recommendations to management on system improvements to mitigate identified problems Provide engineering support for operation activities Travel to jobsites, off-site meetings, and trainings (up to 5% travel per year) including overnight stays when necessary Participate in regional transmission groups (such as WECC and SPP) All NorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safety standards and the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic business objectives Am I right for this job? Here's the success profile: Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record S.
