Summary:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our team to address and resolve Life Safety and Annual Workplace Evaluation (AWE) issues at the VA Manhattan Campus in New York City. The candidate will be responsible for assessing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.Job Description: Journeyman Electrician for Life Safety and Annual Workplace Evaluation (AWE) Issues at VA Manhattan Campus, NYCPosition: Journeyman ElectricianLocation: VA Manhattan Campus, 423 East 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010Job Type: Full TimeWorking Hours: Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 4:30 PM excluding Federal Holidays Responsibilities: Conduct thorough assessments of the electrical systems and equipment within the VA Manhattan Campus to identify Life Safety and AWE issues. Collaborate with the Facilities Management team and other relevant stakeholders to understand specific safety requirements and priorities. Develop and implement effective action plans to rectify identified electrical issues, ensuring compliance with all applicable safety codes and regulations. Perform repairs, maintenance, and upgrades on electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, switches, panels, and other related components. Install new electrical systems or components as necessary, adhering to industry best practices and safety standards. Conduct routine inspections and testing of electrical equipment to verify proper functionality and safety. Document all work performed, including repairs, replacements, and upgrades, and maintain accurate records for future reference. Provide technical guidance and support to other maintenance staff as needed. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors when required for specialized repairs or projects. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in electrical technology and safety standards to ensure the best practices are applied. Adhere to VA Manhattan Campus safety protocols and guidelines throughout the duration of the project. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, providing progress reports and updates on ongoing tasks. Qualifications: Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification. Proven experience as a Journeyman Electrician, ideally in a large campus or healthcare facility setting. Deep knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and codes, with an emphasis on life safety requirements and annual workplace evaluations. Ability to analyze complex electrical problems and develop effective solutions. Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and tools. Strong understanding of workplace safety protocols and procedures. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work. Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Physical ability to lift and carry heavy equipment or materials as needed.
