Department : 4 North / 4 South Job Title : Registered Nurse Reports To : 4 North / 4 South Unit Manager Position Overview : The Registered Nurse (RN) provide s direct patient and family support and nursing care within their full scope of practice. This include s participation in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programs and services for patients , families, and the community. The responsibilities include observation data collection, planning, implem en t at i on and evalu ation of the patients' physical, psychological, emotional educational and spiritual needs as guided by an individualize d and ongoing plan of care. The RN work s collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Personal characteristics: Honest, calm, reliable, compassionate, and caring to patients and coworkers. Communicate s in a clear and respectful fashion with both patients and teammates wi th every encounter. Represent CHS with the highest level of customer service. Act as a resource for the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates integrity at all times. Ensures a positive influence on morale and emotional maturity. What You'll Do : Plan for the care of patients, demonstrating the ability to effectively prioritize both expected a nd unanticipated needs. Involve patients and families in establishing care goals. Implement interventions for the attainment of care goals to reflect resourceful involvement of CHS health team members. Facilitate the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed. Demonstrate competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families. Demonstrate initiative in remaining current on CHS policies, procedures and standards. Act as a re source to peers. Evaluate the effectiveness of care giving and show ongoing follow through in care delivery. Evaluation of care is reflective of the attainment of care goals. Demonstrate proficiency and compliance with established practices in clinical documentation. Demonstrate critical thinking skills by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Demonstrates awareness of the value and relevance of research and evidence based practice in nursing through actual practice . Be self-directed in assuming responsibilities within the team and care delivery system. Assist peers and team members in acquiring department specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Be a department resource for clinical practice and operational systems . Assis t others and provide leadership in implementing the standards of the patient care. Remaining flexible in assisting both patients and teammates as needed and in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above. Minimum Qualifications : Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Licensure: Currently licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse. Certifications: BLS, *ACLS within 6 months hire (*preferred 4 North, * required 4 South) Preferred Qualifications : Previous patient care experience. Physical Requirements : Repetitive use of hands and fingers ( e.g., Use of computer keyboard). M ay require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs ), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file d ocuments in lower file drawers). S itting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary . M ust be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
