What you'll do: Schedule surgeries for patients Schedule ancillary services and testing (MRI, CT scans, etc.) Obtain insurance authorizations for above procedures Manage phone calls with regard to above procedures Counsel patients with regard to upcoming surgeries and testing Coordinate pre-surgical clearance from the patients' PCP Ensure history and physicals are faxed before surgeries Assemble surgical orders for PA's and coordinate PA schedule to MD schedule for the operating room Provide back up support for front desk Our ideal candidate will have: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent customer service attitude Working knowledge of medical terminology Basic keyboard knowledge Knowledge of scheduling protocols Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities High School Diploma or GED required Previous medical office experience that includes complex coordination of referrals, testing or surgeries is preferred Physical requirements: Sitting-- 80% Standing-- 20% Reaching-- 30% Bending-- 20% Lifting-- must be able to lift 40 lb. Working environment: Pleasant conditions; comfortable indoor climate with suitable equipment and tools to carry out the responsibilities of the job.
