Senior Scientist, Natural Resorces

Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett), an award-winning and industry-leading environmental, health and safety, and architectural-engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full-time Senior Scientist to support the firm's growing natural resources practice, with an emphasis on assignments working under the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and in a wide range of state and local jurisdictions.This position will serve the federal, state, local, and commercial sectors with assignments that include assessing the potential impacts of infrastructure and development projects, preparing regulatory agency permit applications, and supporting NEPA and state-equivalent reports. This role will work with a wide variety of clients and project types, from small local developments to large federal projects.This senior-level position will require technical leadership, client management, business development, and working with and/or supporting other practice areas within the firm. The candidate selected for this position will provide technical expertise, lead project implementation, and assist the firm's Environmental Planning and Remediation Group Director to develop strategies for growth of the firm over time. This is a hybrid position and can be based out of the firm's Corporate Headquarters located in Stoneham, MA office or in our North Smithfield, RI office. Requirements Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Wetland Science, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related course of study. 5+ years of experience in wetland delineation, habitat delineation, impact assessment or regulatory compliance. Demonstrated experience preparing and obtaining jurisdictional determinations. Experience with NEPA a plus. Experience with sustainability, greenhouse gas estimating, or coastal resiliency planning a plus Excellent organizational and personal communication skills; ability to successfully interact with clients, staff, and peers clearly and directly; capable of functioning both independently and on a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Word and Excel. Familiarity with ArcGIS a plus. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher, as well as Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED Certifications are a plus. This position requires field and outdoor work in all types of weather and terrain. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs. Must possess a valid driver's license and able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, as well as pre-employment physical and drug screen, to include cannabis. Due to the nature of our work, the clients that we serve, and the setting for certain on-site assignments, COVID-19 vaccination may be required prior to beginning employment except in situations where a medical or religious accommodation is requested and granted by the Firm.
