Driven by its customers' needs, Azure Edge + Platform seeks to accelerate growth for Azure, E&D, and Microsoft's customers worldwide.As part of AE+P, the Microsoft Observability Platform and Experience engineering team is responsible for both the external and internal observability product offerings. These services enable customers to monitor, detect, troubleshoot, and mitigate issues with their services. Azure Monitor is our product family and includes Log Analytics, Application Insights, Container Insights, Hosted Prometheus, and more. Additionally, Log Analytics is the platform upon with Microsoft Sentinel is built. We have a >$1B dollar business that is growing rapidly. We also run some of the world's highest scale observability services for Microsoft internally, processing over 600PB of logs daily and tracking over 100 billion active metrics.As Principal Architect for the Observability team you will help design and scale the observability platform to meet the future demands of increasingly complex workloads including those rapidly emerging from AI and AIOps. Additionally, you will play a key role in ensuring solutions will work across a wide variety of workloads to ensure efficiency in engineering and that consistent capabilities are provided. The observability platform plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the products that Microsoft and our customers ship.Our mission is to provide end-to-end observability for Cloud and Edge and enable all customers to efficiently operate and provide high quality experiences with their apps, services, and infrastructure. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python o OR equivalent experience. 6+ years of experience with distributed systemsdesign and implementation. Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Excellent communication skills, both technical and non-technical, with the ability to convey complex ideas to various stakeholders. Passion for quality. Ability to influence broadly towards common goals and priorities. Experience with microservices architecture, Kubernetes, Linux, Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and related technologies. Experience with building observability systems. Software Engineering IC6 - Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 - $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 - $304,200 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
