You will supervise approximately 48 personnel, including 2 subordinate supervisor positions, and the activities involved in purchasing, receiving, manufacturing and shipping products and supplies used by all ODOT fleet repair staff. You will be responsible for the inspection, repair, maintenance, modification, training and operation of all vehicles and equipment west of the Cascade Mountains. A day in the life: Ensure operational procedures are followed for all areas of operations at the Salem shop, parts room and heavy equipment field technicians located in western Oregon.Prepare and manage budgets for all areas of operations at the Salem shop, parts room and heavy equipment field technicians located in western Oregon.Conduct research, prepare proposals and make recommendations to mangers and branch administrators.Demonstrate and foster a strong commitment to customer service within all areas of operations at the Salem shop, parts room and heavy equipment field technicians located in western Oregon.Collaboratively participate as a member of the Fleet Services Management Team developing, implementing and ensuring adherence to statewide policies and procedures to improve or streamline processes.Interpret and enforce statues, rules and policies.Establish work standards, goals, and objectives consistent with agency policy.Approve all major repair requests and ensure repairs are completed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.Maintain technical knowledge of all equipment and inventory.Review and evaluate existing operations for accuracy and efficiency.Supervise approximately 48 staff members, including 2 supervisor(s), office staff, a machinist, parts personnel and heavy equipment technicians. Work in both a standard office environment and in the field with exposure to dust, fumes and various chemicals.This position may require irregular work ours such as 24-hour availability and working on weekends or holidays. Minimum qualifications: Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR Two years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
