Aerospace Supplier Quality Engineer

Position Summary: Under general supervision and reporting to the Senior Director of Quality Operations, The Quality Engineer is responsible for executing and expanding on key initiatives inside of the supplier quality organization, including the execution of various supplier quality engineering related activities such as Compliance, Process and Product Audits, MRB, FAI Witnessing, Review and Sign off, Problem Solving, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Supplier Performance Reporting and other Quality Improvement Activities. R esponsible for performing Special Process Audits, performing investigations, corrective actions for special processes issues. Essential Functions: The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Conducts activities to modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation, control systems and protocols Provides explanations of testing and inspection plans, methods and/or technologies to assure reliability and conformance of products and processes Provides analysis and develops recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and/or design problems for internally produced products and processes Utilizes PPAP core elements (e.g., PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.) to identify risk in product development and propose risk management solutions Provides reviews and ensure requirements are met for work transfer and process change management including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance Reviews process control documentation to ensure it is in compliance with requirements, objectives, and/or contracts Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation, control systems and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products Working with product design and specification, devises testing plans, methods, and equipment to assure reliability of product. Collaborates internally to ensure quality standards are in effect Develops proactive quality initiative strategies and drives their implementation Designs and implements product engineering changes to satisfy quality issues raised by customers Responsible for both Program and Product Quality Engineering Responsible for development of new inspection technologies or methodologies to assure product conformance Perform Special Process Audits, investigations, and issue corrective actions for issues with special processes. Establish Special Process Audit elements including creation and performance of checklists and schedule. Create reports of audit findings and categorize in accordance with customer requirements. Ensure containment actions and disclosures are performed when findings affect multiple parts or delivered products. Create and manage recurrence of audits to include metrics for processor performance. Ensure corrective actions are in place to prevent recurrence of anomalies identified during the audits or surveillance. Ensure compliance to applicable standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of: FAA, EAR, and ITAR standards and regulations Engineering Processes, Standard Drawings Conventions, Interpreting Drawing, Specifications, and GD&T MS Office Strong verbal, written and communication skills Project management, time management, problem solving and organization Fluent English – reading and writing is required Professionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detail Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgment Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Establish and maintain effective working relationships Special processes including paint, welding, FPL etch, pre-penetrant etches, anodize, hardness and conductivity and chemical cleaning. Aerospace requirements. Quality Management Systems and performance metrics. Skills: Strong collaborative skills with attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel Fluent English-reading and writing is required Professionalism, integrity, and exceptional attention to detail Strong independent decision-making skills; excellent analytical skills and professional judgement Strong Nadcap Skills Knowledge of heat treat, welding, chemical processing, coatings, and non-destructive testing Ability to: Identify and assess hazard and quality defect. Drive continuous improvement. Effectively work with production team and other members of quality team to develop and maintain a robust and effective quality system. Always follow all safety procedures and work as safe as possible. Communicate with other departments regarding actions taken to resolve non-conformances Establish and maintain effective working relationships Perform Audits Education and Experience High School Diploma; as preferred Aerospace experience preferred 5 years' auditing and certified to perform audits, auditing certification preferred. 5 years' quality experience. Any combination of education and experience may be considered. Licenses, certifications & Other Requirements Vision Exam is required prior to hire. Requirements are as follows: The General Vision Acuity Test shall be performed by an Oculist, Optometrist, or other professionally recognized person. The following requirements shall apply. Near Vision – Eyes meets Orthorater 8 (95% or Jaeger #2 at 12 inches) Far vision – Eyes meets Orthorater 4 (76%) or Snellen Chart 20/50 Color Perception – 6 of 9 Orthorater plates US or International citizenship or permanent residence status required depending on work location. Pass pre-hire background check including credit screening Pre-Hire Drug Screening WORKING CONDITIONS Productivity : Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.Mobility: Incumbents are required to participate in assigned physical activities which may include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time. Vision : Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others. Environment: Typical office conditions, directly working Quality management team, working with the SMS team, and external customers. Other Factors: Typical hours worked are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Incumbents may be required to work occasional extended hours and weekend overtime.The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk (approximately 1-2 miles a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
